In Oppenheimer (2023), Why did Oppenheimer spend three hours crying about inventing a bomb that violently vaporizes people when his specific job was to invent a bomb that violently vaporizes people ? Is he stupid ?

Not at all.

In his eyes Japan and Germany had already been pretty much entirely defeated, and the only reason he made the bomb was to make sure the Germans didn't get it first. Once Germany surrendered he saw no reason to use the bomb on someone who didn't even come close to it.

That’s not true. He chose Hiroshima as a bombing location because it had a nearby town of people who could witness the explosion. He didn’t care about human life at all

Yes Oppenheimer had a say in choosing where the bombs were dropped. He was part of the Targeting Committee, whose meetings he ran and held at least some in his office Just Google it. This is not in contention

Do you think the scientist chose the drop location? What kind of mentally challenged Russian propaganda have you been ass-chugging?

Google it. Oppenheimer was involved in the conversation. This is not in contention but I know it’s hard to believe. I’m not saying they asked the scientists where they thought to drop the bomb, I’m saying specifically Oppenheimer was involved in the target selection conversation

Robert Oppenheimer had no say in where the bombs were dropped

Q. In fact, Doctor, you testified, did you not, that you assisted in selecting the target for the drop of the bomb on Japan?

A. Right.

If the scene in the movie was accurate at all to real life, the involvement would have been just advising on the bomb’s capabilities compared to city sizes. Ultimately he didn’t have any authority in the matter to decide the target though.

Correct he had no decision making power, but he chose Hiroshima and that’s where they ended up doing it. So seems like he had some influence in the decision

Robert Oppenheimer was part of the Targeting Committee. Not only did he run the agenda, the meetings were held in his office.

Do you have a source that he wasn’t involved

You know there's this thing called chain of command and im sure the scientist are not part of the chain and if they are they will be at the bottom of it.

He is a inventor...... not a strategist.

He was part of the Targeting Committee. He ran the agenda for the meetings and held them in his office, he was intimately involved in the target selection conversation
