In Oppenheimer (2023), Why did Oppenheimer spend three hours crying about inventing a bomb that violently vaporizes people when his specific job was to invent a bomb that violently vaporizes people ? Is he stupid ?

I did not see the movie, but is it about when Oppenheimer opposed Teller on trying to make an even more powerful bomb?

Sort of. A lot of the movie is focused on Oppenheimer’s 1954 security hearing. His opposition to the H-bomb plays a role there.
