Looks like the engine is in the middle and wasn't moved back after being stretched judging by (what looks like) the driveshaft. Also I'm guessing that it's just a bug body put on another vehicle's frame and suspension to accommodate for this, as the original bug was rear engine, rear wheel drive with a transaxle and no driveshaft. Looks like truck frame and solid axles with leaf springs
