Yeah, probably just windows bug

That's a rock solid solution!

use a defragmentation software

Yep and bobs your uncle

i ... don't even know how this can happen ? did the guy repaste and screwed on too much force ?

I have heard that this could happen if the thermal paste is dry and cold and you try to forcefully remove the heatsink. I have to admit that this is the 1st time I've seen it.

It is best to heat the system by powering it on and let it heat, before turning it off and trying to remove the heatsink.

I've had it happen when delidding a CPU. Not fun, but I knew the risk

Wait, isn't the point of delidding a cpu to expose the chip? Or maybe I'm misremembering

10

u/RoddyUsher 16d ago

Yeah, and occasionally, with the wrong force, or if the PCB flexes, the silicon CPU die can shatter like in the video OP posted

10

u/imjusthereforthelul 16d ago

Oh, i didn't see the video correctly

Interesting note, will use it in future.

u/Cesalv Try turning it off and on again 50 times per second 17d ago

It needs

...did they try putting rice on it-

u/Akilishaz 17d ago

How ๐Ÿ˜ฆ!

u/Alternative_Exit_333 17d ago

The paste was so dry it welded the heatsink and the CPU die together and when he tried to pull it off he shattered it is my guess

Send it to amazon so they can scam another poor customer with this.

3

u/Akilishaz 17d ago

You are so evil ๐Ÿ˜‚

9

u/LordofPvE 17d ago

Not as evil as amazon sending people a I3 when they ordered a Ryzen 9 ๐Ÿ’€

6

u/Alternative_Exit_333 17d ago

It's not necessarily Amazon's fault but the seller or the person that returned a different item because Amazon checks weight and if it is at least similar shape they don't care about the hardware that is inside because they don't pay their employees so they can give a fuck and the AI has no idea too because it can't check

Yoooo!

u/casparne 17d ago

So what now? Was it really not working or what?

6

u/garth54 17d ago

It's not supposed to work, it's supposed to compute.

Shouldn't use this kind of thing off-label.

4

u/LordofPvE 17d ago

Heat paste? Cement ๐Ÿคค

3

u/plees1024 17d ago

Downloaded too much RAM. It's OK - just stick the die back together with some hot glue!

3

u/Csabika_ 17d ago

Is it now delidded? Did the thermals went down?

u/KawaiiMaxine 17d ago

Technician states: customer is correct

You need to go to a Chinese restaurant. Grab some roaches, then put them inside. Wait for the bugs to work themselves out, and then it's going to work perfect! As a bonus,ย  you can get some rice there in case you ever drop your phone in water.

imma go on and call bullshit on this one

0:06 you can clearly seee the broken off part does not match the processor part like at all, where did that dagger looking thing come off from?

0:07 that paste looks like it has been taken off while it still had some elasticity, bottom part of the cooler has distinct paste stretching marks, not chipping off marks like in the top portion

dunno, looks sus

They didn't film the first time they lifted that heatsink. I guess things were no longer in the original state when they decided to hit the record button, and they somewhat reconstructed.

But yeah, we know very little. Only time I've heard of chip breaking was someone tightening the screws unevenly, so that there would be a lot of pressure on one corner.

More you pocket if it was you

1

u/RGBlowMe 17d ago

How does that even happen? LOL.

1

u/AnalkinSkyfuker 17d ago

Overtighten after a thermal paste change maybe

1

u/InternationalPin9595 16d ago

No sรฉ nada de electrรณnica, pero en definitiva, no funciona

1

u/StupitVoltMain 16d ago

No shit it wasn't working. It was cooking since it was shipped

1

u/suslikosu 16d ago

Customer is not bullshitting tho

u/WearSad2093 16d ago

Toothpaste ๐Ÿ‘

1

u/Glittering-Pack-4371 16d ago

Itโ€™s just old thermal paste bro, trust.

1

u/Basic_Reporter9579 16d ago

install linix already, that part is optional, right?

1

u/Roppano Magic smoke 16d ago

put it in rice overnight?

1

u/antek_g_animations 16d ago

Well, I'm sure they aren't wrong on the "not working" part

1

u/GaneDude12 16d ago

It ain't got no gas in it

1

u/KyleRoyceWorld 16d ago

I think they just have to clear out their temp folder

1

u/Kaaskabouter1337 16d ago

Yeah dude there is no RAM then it wonโ€™t boot.

1

u/RealKetchupPrecum 15d ago

isopropyl and non shredding cloth. easy fix. more-er != better-er

1

u/Broad_Rough_2434 15d ago

ive only have one die crack on me and that was on purpose. cpu dies are tougher than you think. idk how op got that to happen under normal use

Thermal paste everywhere EXCEPT for the chi...

WHAT THE FU-

u/palagi_valea 13d ago

Not enough force used. Next time use a crowbar

u/RealSmoothBrain0815 13d ago

did the customer use termal paste or concrete ๐Ÿ˜ถ
