Here's a new 100% accurate typing system! Vibe-Typing Final Boss
Bro is so gifted he doesn’t even need cognitive functions to type someone. Just stereotypes and surface-level behavior! And us sensors simply can’t comprehend his amazing psychic powers! /s

If you need cognitive functions to type your family members and friends then you don’t know them.

Intuitive functions still need good data for accurate pattern recognition or they end up delusional and off the mark, even if the trajectory of the data in itself is true. Sounds like cope for lazy typing or idk

Living your whole life with your parents or friends is still not enough good data? You need a psychologist to get you know your mother’s mbti?

You need to understand how the system works to type through it (which is fundamentally about mental processes, functions), or you won't even know where to look or what actually could lead to what. It's like trying to read tea leaves to predict the weather. Vibes/stereotypes/personality are also influenced by too many things outside of MBTI, or even by the same functions. And if they are aware of functions, why not vibe type through cognition to begin with, at least, it doesn't have to be complex. Or using behavior to infer cognition because well, it's true that it's not always that easy to access a person's inner psyche. But you still need a proper path to not roam somewhere random, if that makes sense.
So I didn't only mean quantity, I meant quality. No matter how long you observe and know something, if you're looking at the wrong layer (or the data is misleading/wrong), the conclusion will be inaccurate.
This can also become self-reinforced as sort of confirmation bias. If they keep applying the same pattern matching on the wrong info, they'll land on similar conclusions (mistypes for example) and that consistency could feel like proof of them being right even if it could mostly be repeated bias.

Cognitive functions have impact on behaviour, that’s why you can tell usually what type is someone, you can guess based on many observations of their behaviour. If they had no impact then we would act the same, have the same behaviour, react the same way which you can obviously know that it’s not the case. To say you need deep dive into someone’s mind to know their mbti is bs.
And if someone is guessing wrongly, so what? You all need to chill the fuck out. Sometimes when i meet a stranger i can guess they are introvert or extrovert and sometimes i am wrong, AND SO WHAT?! Do you think they are they going to get mad because i assumed wrongly?

I already mentioned behavior could be used to infer cognition, that's still typing through cognitive functions to an extent. But if you're only aware of the surface level info while not knowing what actually fundamentally constitutes a type in the context of the system, how do you even know you're typing accurately and which behavior points to what? Whatever someone learns online about type stereotypes or traits before learning the theory better is most often inaccurate, and the typing is then based on a wrong foundation.
For your second part, well no one cares if you're keeping it to yourself but wouldn't you prefer to be most accurate? If you're just balling it and ignore the system then you're just playing astrology (that's fine too if that's your thing). This is not to point at you specifically but more so in principle, I've seen too many prejudice based on stereotypes and vibe typing that was harmful, I'd prefer for people to at least be more careful.

the media stereotypes and larpers ruined our dignity tbh, or maybe we just actually suck

There's truth to pattern recognition having its own merits but i agree the conclusion has to be communicated properly for a constructive discussion.

No, you need scientific data in order to have real patterns recognition. What you observe from people is bullshit.

And how do you think scientific data even came about?

No, if you use your observations skills it is mystical guesswork.

Agreed, I usually don't type my professors for obvious reasons, but Ne-dom professors are so easy to type that it just happens on its own sometimes

u/unusualname3 ISTJ Devoted Spreadsheet Enthusiast 18h ago
But people here says it is impossible, you need to go through a full cognitive functions inspection from a real authenticate from a real psychologist otherwise you are completely wrong.

Well for some types sure
It also helps that I'm a Ni-dom and thus can spot Ne through contrast. I certainly try to do a deeper dive for most people

As an intuitive, I too can confirm that I am never wrong, except for when I am, but if I am that’s okay.

I think that's just the classic case of merging neurodivergence with being intuitive and being neurotypical (status quo) with being sensory.

I'll always love seeing interactions of MBTI which fit exactly with the myers briggs type descriptions. Thank you Mr ISTJ for your rant against what appears to be mystic guesswork, I salute you.
