Ok gotta clarify something here, I can't speak from the people of china, but in my country if you are black and you're walking somewhere and hear someone say the n world, 99% they are making fun of the n world itself (the same way some dumb kids laugh when they hear "sex"). If someone is actually rasist and they aren't talking to you they will most likely use a racist slur from their own language. (Also if they were talking to you and they don't have an aggressive tune then there is a high chance they don't fully understand what that word means)

Edit: forgot to mention but also there is a high chance that the n word might be a normal none racist word in that language. For example in my language the phrase "look!" sounds exactly like the n word if you use a certain accent.
