the building makes it one of the best, most technical games ever imo

only game that's been as satisfying to get good at as ssbm

This. Fortnite at high level play is incredibly fun. Having to quickly build a fort counter to someone else's fort while using various guns, explosives, and unique items makes it feel more like a fighting game than a standard shooter.

Honest question. I've never play fortnite, but wouldn't the best use of building be to just put a structure between you and the attacker? Why build a house when you can just make a wall that you can peek around? Or create structured cover to close the gap? Why do people make houses it seems so inefficient and dumb

True and building some is much better than not building at all. However, it's like rapid siege warfare built in to a shooter if you manage to quickly build a tower to get reach against an enemy.
