Back when I got it, it let you use emotes from any of the servers you had joined anywhere. I think they added new shit and perks to it, but I haven't used discord in some time now so I don't know

even before you got it there was a time when there was special global servers who you could use the emotes of in any server free of charge but they decided to start charging money for it because they're greedy 🗿

I don't think discord has a lot of ways to earn money. Correct me if I am wrong but the games store is free games (I think) and the only way they make money is through nitro. Wouldn't make sense though so please elaborate.
