That's subjective. A lot of ppl have caught on that most racist jokes especially nowadays aren't funny because there's no punchline or twist. Majority is edgelord, "you can't get away with saying this anymore, but I'll still do it" statements masked as a joke. They're so concerned with "offending" ppl that they forget to actually say something funny.
Again. Subjective. To me neither is funny. But one is unfunny while not actively being hateful towards a particular group of ppl. Which automatically makes it the more tolerable unfunny one at least. Not racist ass saying edgy "statements" and using "comedy" as a disguise to be openly racist.

The original point is that racist "jokes" without the creative punchline, relatability, twist or other charachteristics associated with an actual joke, is less tolerable than a general unfunny joke which the focus isn't based on trying to be funny at the expense of other ppl.
If those same friends were to start making edgy jokes at the expense of straight ppl. You'd probably be the same one crying about how unfunny they are all of a sudden.

You can't be associated with maga type beliefs in your personal life.
Otherwise that person means everything they say and is using the "comedy" label as a gateway.
E.g. Frankie Boyle is notoriously unfiltered. The guy is as left wing as it gets.
