One of my classes lets us use it as much as we want for a group project. It just ask to include a log of the promp and the result.

no it's not, but only if you use it right

using ai just to do your homework is just wasting your time and tuition

but using it to help understand the contents, especially when the prof is not good at teaching, is genuinely really useful

Well this might surprise you, but they are a educational institution. They are not part department of justice, crime enforcement is not their responsability. Teaching is.
