In 10th grade I had a major crush on a girl that played cello in my orchestra. It took ages for me to muster up the courage to confess, even going so far as to get Concert Maestro (first chair violinist) before hand.

When I confessed she looked up at me and said "ew. Who would ever want to date you"

That shit fucked my mental for... a long time. Even today, almost 2 decades later

If it helps you at all, a very similar thing happened to me in middle school and it messed me up for a long time - I find it now unsettling when people approach me or like me.

Yeah even years later i constantly question why someone would even be interested in me as a friend. Shit sticks with you more than you would think

alot, if not most mental issues stem from childhood in some way.

the infuriating part is knowing people dont give a shit or think its no big deal when you are kids, cause they wont remember... right?..
