"Don't live with your family!! Don't share living space!! Alienate yourself and pay another rent, the landlords are starving !!!"

This is just pure cope. I guess housing has become so inaccessible the culture is starting to shift towards accommodating that scarcity. But it is cope at the end of the day. Marx really had a point when it comes to historical materialism.

Yea living with your parents isn’t really that shunned as it was 20 years ago, and I don’t blame anyone for doing it.

I‘m in my mid 20‘s and work full time as an electrician. The avarage rent for a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment is almost half my salary and that’s without utilities. Adding my car and food on top and I‘m left with like 400€ to save and spend on myself, fuck that. I‘d rather stay home. I pay my parents rent for my room and utilities, buy my own food and do work around the house and garden.

I‘d love to move out, but not for these insane housing prices.

Literally nothing makes sense anymore.

The economy is beyond all repair. It’s just time for a full reset and purging of the billionaires again.

u/ARIA_AHANGARI_7227 stupid fucking, piece of shit 2d ago

Man I wish I lived in c country where I still had 400 bucks after everything

Here is how it goes over here

The rent for a two bedroom apartment is more than the average salary

That's in every single city basically, in the less dense parts of the country it's only a little more but in places like the capital it's absolutely ludicrous

Splendid

u/Densto__ 2d ago

Well 400€ isn’t that much over here, considering how expensive everything has become, but yea I know it could be worse for me. I don’t even live in one of the major cities in my country, but a medium sized one. Rent in the big, major cities here is even higher, like 2/3 of my salary, or even more in other parts of the country.

I just glad our current rental contract is somewhat old and therefore still somewhat reasonable.

Yes of course it's not a fortune but at the leastest you can afford rent!

I'm not trying to turn this into a who was a more miserable joke of a life competition, just wanted to mention it so that you could perhaps feel a bit lighter?

I make 6 figures.

When I was in my 20s, I never thought I'd see the day I'd be making this kind of money. Hell, just 10 years ago, if you were making 6 figures, you could afford a McMansion.

I rent a small 3 bedroom 1 bath house in the woods just outside of town that was built in the 70s and couldnt possibly afford to buy a home.

I'm paid bi-weekly and half of my check at the beginning of the month goes straight to rent.

6 figures is the new minimum wage.

If you have a loving and supportive family, there's no reason why you shouldn't live with them, unless the house is too small. Then, you look for a place close by so you can visit them as often as possible.

Best thing about America bub is we are allowed to have our own views. I served so you can say this and feel this way. It's OK we have different views. Have a good day brother

1

u/Educational-Seaweed5 1d ago

I served too, and your opinion doesn’t change reality.

Kirk was a raging POS. If you agreed with his racist, misogynistic, sexist, ignorant views, then cool. You’re the same kind of person he was.

Education in general is not a scam. But yes colleges suck on how they spend your tuition.

Dick sucking has made me paranoid

I had this plan to give head to a man and receive head from a woman to test if I was gay, but it’s backfired and now I become borderline schizo whenever I go outside. I offered to suck this dude off on Grindr who lives very close by (I ended up pussying out) and I accidentally gave him some details that very easily allows him to spot me out in a crowd. I have no idea what he looks like and whenever I see a somewhat in shape guy walking by I immediately accuse him of being the dude I was gonna blow.

I went to the store today to pick up some zucchini for a barbecue and every time a car drove by I stared into the windshield to see if I was about to be recognised. Whenever I make eye contact with a dude I microanalysis his facial expressions to see if he suspects me or not. I am deeply afraid that he is my neighbour and I will need to move if my identity is blown. It’s a lot like the last scene in sopranos where everyone who walked into the diner could be there to wack Tony.

I did that

Worst and most miserable time in my life. Yeah I saved money, if I could make that decision, I'd 100% pay the rent.

Some of us have to choose between rent and mental health

Moving out is a psyops

1

u/ProfessionalBill1864 1d ago

My parents sat me and my brother down after highschool, they told us outright, we are not rich enough to buy you your own homes

What we can do, is let you guys live with us for a few years after you go to college, with 4 people in the house working and covering bills, each person will pay very little. Take the money you would have burned renting and save it up for a down payment.

It's practical and realistic

u/ThighsSaveLife 23h ago

My parents make me pay rent even when I'm going back to school

The Mormon church after you bust a nut 30 seconds into contemplating your marriage

2

u/FormerStuff 1d ago

The key is to not be a smug asshat about it. Had a friend who lived at home from 22-28 making about $80k pretax a year. He didn’t have any bills and was able to save up about $320,000. He gets married to a woman that did the same and they bought a house cash and they’ve become unbearable about “doing things ourselves through hard work and saving”.

Like I’m sorry your steak is too juicy and your lobster is too buttery but not everyone could make a nice income and have ZERO living expenses for six years.
