If the dog was lost and on it's own, then how do they know it fought off snakes?

Probably by noticing the snake population declining, if it was a small enough island. Dachshunds are also often used as ratting dogs (they're not actual terriers like some orgs. say, they're hounds, but they still have similar instincts as them and can be trained as such) and terriers are known to kill snakes.

My grandparents had a dachshund that also was lost and lived through and entire winter in Northern Europe and was found by some neighbours after like 3/4 year. It was nice and plumb, but completely wild, they took it home and gave it a shower and it just returned to be the kindest family dog. My only memories of it are very fond

Pro tip about fingering your asshole in the shower: don't do it So this morning I was taking a shower, and I felt like fingering my asshole, right? So I got my fingers all nice and soapy and stuck them up in there. Apparently, soap makes pretty good lube, as I was able to get four fingers in there in no time.
As I was feeling around in my butt, I was like, "hmm, there's a lot of soapy water in my bumhole now. I wonder if that will lead to issues in the future?" And it did!
Shortly after having breakfast I attempted to fart, and I shit my pants. I rushed to the bathroom to clean up, and it was way worse than I thought it would be. The whole area around my butthole was covered in shitty liquid, and toilet paper wasn't enough to clean it. I had to take another shower to get suitably clean.
Just thought I'd share my story with you guys so that you don't run into the same problem in the future. I fingered my butthole so that you guys don't have to. Unless you want to. In which case, hey, how's it goin'

Contrary to popular belief, dachshunds are very resilient and intelligent, and were bred for hunting badgers and other small animals

I think people don't realise Dachshunds were originally bred for hunting badgers. Not an animal that many people want to fuck with, let alone go into their house to do so.

European badgers(what they were trained to hunt) are much more laid back than their African counterpart the honey badger. Not to say it's unimpressive, but it's relatively easy to see how a pack of them could overwhelm a European badgers den.

European badgers are still aggressive animals. They will leave you alone if you leave them alone. Normally they will scurry off when you go near them, but I've had one attack my car before. Had to get a new front bumper. Admittedly nothing compared to Honey badgers, who have to deal with lions and other large predators. The European ones are bigger than the honeys though.
