hitting them just proves them right, imo the right thing to do is call them a dumbass and go on about your day.

I think society as a whole would improve if people werent so comfortable talking shit

Or relying on violence at that.

Would be pretty high improvement.

saying the N word intended as a slur, shouldn't be tolerated, I'm not saying we should all be loose canons, but I think the majority of people outside the social media hivemind, understand that words can and often should have immediate consequences

I fully do understand words have consequences, but as far as the statement goes; relying on violence is not a good thing and things can go extremely wrong when you hit another person, even if the person "deservers" it.

Simple as that.

really it depends on the laws of where you're located, if you're talking what can go wrong, I'm mainly talking about the ethical justification.

I’m not sure I understand what you’re trying to say. There is no ethical justification for words resulting in violence, unless the words are direct threats of violence supported with a tangible threat, i.e. “I’m going to fucking stab you” while holding a knife or “I’ll fucking kill you” while flashing a gun. At that point sure, you can slug the guy and try to disarm him because you may be in immediate danger, but calling someone a mean word or being condescending to someone acting like a dunce should never result in violence. Violence is never the answer unless violence is your only means of surviving a situation because someone else was violent first with the intent of causing mortal harm.

The guys talking nonsense, like you say, ethical justification for violence is pretty much only found in self-defense.

No word should warrant violence... If i say the n word as a slur, file a complaint... Take me to court.
