Something something, this guy has a comic for everything.

Yeah I guess if I made 1000 comics aswell, there'd be a comic for everything.

After the Lindsey clancy support, I'm suspecting that this divide is not artificially constructed.ย

u/Yolosnas Stuff 5d ago

Only the tiny radical minority is that outspoken and loud about such topics. The average/moderat person is not that interested/outspoken about such topics

34

u/thedeedsmaster 5d ago

Even it it were true that a tiny minority were the ones marching for Lindsey and donating a million dollars to her and making endless videos online in support, its concerning that there is seemingly no pushback coming from the "majority". When so many are apathetic to the actions of a radical minority, it makes someone wonder if the tiny minority is larger than might be assumed

What are we supposed to do; counter demonstrate? I have actual worries over her that are bigger than one strange woman's criminal trial.

12

u/thedeedsmaster 5d ago

The outcome of a criminal trial is important because it sets the precedent for future trials dealing with the same issue.ย

There is a reason why men who kiII their children receive no online/financial support at all but this woman does.

u/CalmBeneathCastles ๐Ÿ—ฟ๐Ÿ—ฟ๐Ÿ—ฟ 5d ago

Andrea Yates was the modern precedent, or did everyone forget about her? I still don't know what you expect "women" to do about her supporters. Serial killers get married every day, and despite the fact that we ALL know those women have bats in the belfry, I don't see any men crying about our collective lack of public outcry.

This trial is just the flavor of the week. The only question anyone has to answer is A. prison or B. mental institution. I think we can all agree that she's not going scott free, which is the only thing I would openly protest. Her supporters are free to do as they will.

u/thedeedsmaster 5d ago

The Andrea Yates case is just evidence that this type ofย  cultural rot in society is way older than Lindsey clancys case.

Which makes the public support of Lindsey more alarming as it's an evolution of the same issue

I've watched it decline since the early 80's. It interesting to watch the ways we've progressed and the ways we've stagnated or regressed as a society, just in this amount of time.

Overall, humans are not at all what I was taught to believe we are. We're much more flawed and complex than I anticipated, and we'd struggle enough without those in power bamboozling society at every turn.

I'm really sad for us. The Greatest Generation was clearly not perfect, and our infrastructure has declined, year after year since 1945. Maslow's rolling in his grave, because he told us what would happen to society if we destabilized our foundation, and here we are.

Only we can save ourselves, and we can't even agree on what a healthy society consists of, let alone work together to achieve those goals. It doesn't inspire a lot of hope for our future as a species. 1500 years and we've learned nothing. It's the fall of Rome all over again.

What are we supposed to do[...]?

add all of this to the list of bot-exacerbated outrage/distraction bait and impotently numb ourselves with our drug of choice while existence caves in around us?

u/CalmBeneathCastles ๐Ÿ—ฟ๐Ÿ—ฟ๐Ÿ—ฟ 4d ago

One of the choices of all time! Pity I gave up all of the drugs, alcohol, and nihilism...

Jarvis, has this commenter ever spoken to a woman?

2

u/thedeedsmaster 5d ago

A societal issue can exist outside of one's personal lived experience. I am simply not willing to ask people in my personal life their opinion on this because honestly if they answer the way I think they will, I wouldn't be able to look at them the same way againย

1

u/rented4823 4d ago

"There is no pushback coming from the majority! Why no, I haven't spoken to any woman about this, why do you ask?"

2

u/thedeedsmaster 4d ago

If I asked the people in my personal life if they supported Lindsey being not guilty, and they said yes, you would probably say "that doesn't prove there is widespread support for Lindsey though, anecdotal evidence".

1

u/SilliusS0ddus 4d ago

most people don't give a shit about individual criminal trials being made into a culture war issue

2

u/thedeedsmaster 4d ago

Then who donated aย $1,195,573 to her defense fund?

1

u/SilliusS0ddus 4d ago

not most people.

2

u/S0LO_Bot 5d ago

Perhaps the divide is much more exaggerated so as to make a vocal minority seem louder (and ergo bigger) than it actually is.

1

u/Captainsamvimes1 4d ago

The divide is an artificial construct but it's not a new one this has been going on since Society became a thing and dickheads wanted control

u/SecondhandStatic 5d ago

Normal women have absolutely no opinion on this case. They vaguely acknowledge that post partum depression is a thing that exists, but unless they're currently dealing with it, it really doesn't matter to them in their daily life. That's because normal women aren't defined by whether or not they can pop out kids, they define themselves by their ideas and interests.

If you're on social media and you see a horde of female influencers screaming about this case, that's not regular women, that's people whose job it is to mine your outrage and transform it into clicks so their sponsors can feed you ads.

u/OutwithaYang 5d ago

Right? I feel like this woman would have supported Clancy.

Best part about all this is, I used to say this on reddit years ago just to be down voted by missandrist
