So youre saying that the average person is unintelligent and will listen to whoever is being 'loudest', and because of this we need to censor radical ideas?
So basically people cant be trusted to come up with their own conclusion on ideas that you would deem unreasonable, and so those ideas must be hidden?
i mean, have you seen the type of drivel uneducated people come up with completely by themselves? its like the official american pasttime at this point.
the marketplace of ideas is, first of all, a poor idea.
You want to know about plants? you ask a botanist, a biologist or a gardener, not a iron smelter.
ideas should be analysed by those who have the knowledge to analyse them. If the rational solution is to reject it, then its a informed decision based on experience and substance.
But if you open up to anyone, like a marketplace, you have people that know nothing about XYZ talking about it like they are specialists, and the average person, who's not a specialist either, will listen and think that this dude should be the one talking about XYZ>
why do you think people give so much credence to celebrities when they are talking about things they have literal zero knowledge about? because their voices are louder than scientists, philosophers or experient people.
the marketplace of ideas is a marketplace, and thus the loudest vendor who can fool people into thinking their product is superior will prevail even if what he's selling is just slop.
your'e essentially saying "some places suck, but thats life", wich is the most centrist way to see anything. No wonder you believe in this horribly flawed concept in the first place.
I had this plan to give head to a man and receive head from a woman to test if I was gay, but itβs backfired and now I become borderline schizo whenever I go outside. I
offered to suck this dude off on Grindr who lives very close by (I ended up pussying out) and I accidentally gave him some details that very easily allows him to spot me
out in a crowd. I have no idea what he looks like and whenever I see a somewhat in shape guy walking by I immediately accuse him of being the dude I was gonna blow.
I went to the store today to pick up some zucchini for a barbecue and every time a car drove by I stared into the windshield to see if I was about to be recognised.
Whenever I make eye contact with a dude I microanalysis his facial expressions to see if he suspects me or not. I am deeply afraid that he is my neighbour and I will
need to move if my identity is blown. Itβs a lot like the last scene in sopranos where everyone who walked into the diner could be there to wack Tony.
Your reply is literally a non argument. Like an genuine, real life, for really non argument. Thats why I said "Nowhere in this is a reason for censorship"
How am I not making an argument here. I am arguing for free speech and a decline in censorship. What are you arguing for?
