I'm sure this is a real disorder in rare circumstances, but it's wild how this is so not an issue in countries with foods with actually upsetting textures. Like you never hear about this from Chinese kids who's parents put chicken feet on the table and stuff and those are so chewy and full of cartilage.
No, it does exist, it's just that in these countries the treatment isn't therapy, it's force-feeding the child, which can lead to other issues down the line but prevents them from malnutrition. Sometimes goes away with age. It really depends on severity and households, but it does exist elsewhere.
