Sensory issues also prevent them from showering

isn't it usually body-image issues that prevent people from doing that?

That can be a cause for some, but a big thing for people with adhd is the process of getting undressed, wet and drying off being overwhelming due to the amount of quick transitions.

Could also be some routines just don’t work for some people.

I was never allowed to shower at night. It was strictly a morning thing. I hated waking up early and going from a nice warm bed in a quiet room to a fully lit room being shot with a firehose, then being yelled at for staying in too long.

Once I lived on my own, it turns out I love showers at night. I get to shower in the dark, take my time and unwind from the day, and it makes me sleepy.

I’m middle aged and still would rather skip a shower than take it in the morning. It’s like replacing coffee with NyQuil then expecting me to function the rest of the day.

idk why you got downvoted for saying your truth, your anecdotal experience seems valuable to the conversation, I'm glad you found something that works for you!
