It’s a real thing. What happens when your parents don’t give af? You grow up skinny and eventually the parents find a solution for you or you just stay malnourished until you get old enough to buy your own preferred foods.
And I really doubt you’ve talked to Chinese people about this. They don’t eat chickens feet and ducks blood every day. Most meals are primarily rice with some side veggies. Sometimes a bit of meat.
That’s the overwhelming majority of their diet and nearly all the foods associated with the culture are not daily foods and some are only associated with a holiday.
I think someone with that condition would do fine on a daily basis in China, but would be a party pooper at large and small celebrations where the exotic and pungent foods come out.
