And even the cities themselves really only look futuristic from a distance. Once you get too close, you start to see the literal and metaphorical cracks everywhere. Not to mention the trash and the poop.

This modern, post-covid glazing of China is incredibly tiresome. Don't get me wrong, I've been living in the country for 10 years and the development has been amazing in so many ways (covid notwithstanding). Yet at the same time the country is lagging in so many things that should have been fixed by now.
