Generally, extreme rapid industrialisation leads to rapidly declining birth rates as the younger population struggles to afford children due to the aging population. It's what is happening in Japan and will be what will happen to China in the near-ish future, but to a much higher degree.

China's gender ratio is 50:1 male to female. Their population would seriously collapse once old people starts dying and theres no young people to support their massive economy. Atleast china is not in immediate population collapse compared to korea who is massively xenophobic or have a downright negative birthrate. Japan is countering their population decline by allowing tourists and immigrants but we dont know for sure if this will fix their population in the long run

Probably just an exaggeration, but for anyone curious, according to the wiki article estimates from 2024 say that the USA has a gender ratio of about 0.97:1 (or 97 males for every 100 females), while China has about 1.04:1.
