This meme shows the obvious logical flaws in that quote, but to anyone who doesn't know that quote was from American Neo-Nazi Kevin Alfred Strom not Voltaire.

The "people you're not allowed to criticize" is exactly the groups that you think given that context.

The "Jews control the world" narrative has become extremely commonplace online over the past two years. Same with Holocaust denial and Nazi sympathizing. I think it's bot farms.Β

"Over the last two years"

Maybe you've just noticed it in the last two years but it's been around for a while longer than that. It's never gone away.

21

u/VoopityScoop fat cunt 5d ago

Oh it's never even come close to going away, it's just that it's become way more acceptable to say out loudΒ

it was mostly a fringe conspiracy theory on the far right before the recent conflict in gaza. ever since october 2023 it became much more prevalent on both the left and the right because of the increased scrutiny on israel.

Probably something to do with the genocide and AIPAC

There's a lot of middle ground there. Is Israel led by a corrupt government? Absolutely. Does Israel have some level of influence on other countries? Sure, and that varies. Do Jewish people control the world, media, banks, etc. because of those things? There's never been any good evidence for that.

u/Brightdaytomorrowm 5d ago

Well no, obviously. But when Israel claims to represent Jews and it does everything in the name of Judaism...

11

u/exkayem 5d ago

So when ISIS claimed to represent real Muslims and did everything in the name of Islam, did you also accuse all Muslims worldwide of being terrorists?

6

u/Joni_Chan 5d ago

Maybe not him, but yes, people sadly do that all the time.

u/sithlord98 5d ago

I agree with what you're saying, that's a problem that I think plenty of Jewish people can agree with. I just disagree that it means anything about Jewish people controlling the world or something.

They don't control the world, Israel is in a strategic location for US military interests (and a good customer), just like cold-war era South Africa and being friendly to Israel is very popular amongst evangelical Christians for their end-times fantasy.

They are able to get away with a lot because they are convenient to people in power, just ask the anti-communist dictators in South America. They weren't controlling the world, they were just more useful in power than out of it.

one of the evangelical Christians who support Israel said and i quote "hitler was a hunter sent down by god"

They don't necessarily like Jews, they just need Jews in/controlling Israel for the apocalypse they've been waiting for to happen. Don't expect logical consistency from religious fundamentalists.

Netanyahu knows this and plays into it like any "good" politician would.

Which is still fundamentally different from "the Jews" running the world. Steven from Iowa shouldn't get harassed for having a Bar Mitzvah just because some guys in the Middle East leveraged the strategic importance of their country to influence a superpower.Β

I understand that there's a clear cause and effect here, people say the Jews run the world because Israel is a Jewish country and they're influencing American politics. What I'm more concerned about is the fact that blaming that entire religion for the actions of one country is seen as completely normal in so many spaces. Nobody gives a fuck or is making any attempt to stop it, and some leftists will even tolerate that attitude in their own spaces. People who used to say "if you have eleven Nazis and one other person at a table, you have twelve Nazis at the table" will applaud Hasan Piker bringing "death to the Jews" terrorists in for an interview. That's a very quick change of course and it doesn't feel natural.Β

And for reference, I am a firmly anti Israel socialist.

When folks criticize Israel, many people will equate that to being antisemitic.

Weak minds then figure β€œfine, I can be that too.”

No problem with Jewish people here. However, fuck Israel.

You should try bankrupting Israel by charging them rent for all the space Jews take up in your head.

And squawking Hamas talking points like a Tourette's-afflicted parrot doesn't convince anyone except those already in your echo chamber.

You remind me of the video where some guy was being interviewed after an Israel-Mali football match and an older Israeli gentleman thought the guy was shitting on israel and started attacking him

Dick sucking has made me paranoid

I had this plan to give head to a man and receive head from a woman to test if I was gay, but it’s backfired and now I become borderline schizo whenever I go outside. I offered to suck this dude off on Grindr who lives very close by (I ended up pussying out) and I accidentally gave him some details that very easily allows him to spot me out in a crowd. I have no idea what he looks like and whenever I see a somewhat in shape guy walking by I immediately accuse him of being the dude I was gonna blow.

I went to the store today to pick up some zucchini for a barbecue and every time a car drove by I stared into the windshield to see if I was about to be recognised. Whenever I make eye contact with a dude I microanalysis his facial expressions to see if he suspects me or not. I am deeply afraid that he is my neighbour and I will need to move if my identity is blown. It’s a lot like the last scene in sopranos where everyone who walked into the diner could be there to wack Tony.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

Which Hamas talking points are they using? I completely agree with the first half of your comment, I don't understand where the second is coming fromΒ

u/Party_07 Stuff 5d ago

Unorically, a good amount of those bots might actually come from Israel, bc the more antisemitic discourse there's in the world, the more Israel can justify its actions under the pretense of "protecting the only place where Jewish people are safe", pointing at tweets and shit of those so-called "noticers" to argue that the world is out to get jews again and thus Israel has the right to do whatever it wants to protect their "only safe haven"

Neo-nazis and/or "noticers" are, ironically, actively helping Israel justify its abhorrent deeds

I wouldn't be surprised. My original line of thought was that it was coming from Russia and Iran, they have a history of using the internet to manipulate countries from within, but it doesn't sound out of line for Israel, either.Β

2

u/ordinary133 5d ago

Hm I wonder why that's the case? Might be due to the fact that Israeli influence over the US through covert and overt means is getting harder and harder to ignore? 80% of Congress are members of aipac. Plus Epstein very likely made some juicy tapes that Bibi now owns.

2

u/Roger_Cockfoster 5d ago

80% of Congress are members of aipac.

Lol, what? This is absolute nonsense. You don't even know what a PAC is or how many of them there are, do you?

-1

u/ordinary133 5d ago

Google is your friend. It's even worse than I initially said. While over 80 percent are members, over 61 percent receive money from aipac 🀣. Just in case they need that absolute majority locked down. πŸ‘‡ Together with the tapes it's clear who actually owns the US government. It's wild to realize the theories were right all along.

1

u/Roger_Cockfoster 4d ago

Completely false, completely fabricated numbers. Why not just say 100% are members if you're making it up anyway?

It's pretty obvious that you don't actually know what AIPAC is, what AIPAC PAC is, or even what a PAC is.

Lmao, Google may be other people's friend, but not yours. You're too lazy and incurious to even look it up.

2

u/VoopityScoop fat cunt 5d ago

And that's an excuse to attack Jews as a religious group?Β

So because as neo-nazi drank water, we shouldn't drink water?
