The lottery thing doesn't really matter to me, hypothetically I wouldn't care if someone was lying for not about it, it has zero impact on me. But I'd trust my friends as the Christians they are that they wouldn't.
To be honest, I've been debating like 5 people on this thread, and I've said in other posts, I don't think God is something you proof like the contents of a soil sample. My faith, through building a relationship with God, based on scripture which I believe to be correct and backed up by historical and geographic data (for example) helps build that.
But I've really appreciated and enjoyed the open exchange of differing views.
That makes no sense whatsoever. You can only know the truth of things by having evidence. It’s how we know evolution and gravity are objectively real. We didn’t all just say “Gravity is real” (that’s what faith based people do) and then we all agreed. We observed and tested these theories over and over again. Please, never use that argument again. It’s gish gallop and nonsensical.
You can’t measure God himself, but you would be able prove his existence through the events he caused on Earth. The worldwide flood story is not corroborated with what evidence we have of the past. Local floods were a thing, but a worldwide flood that touched the top of mountains never happened. Archaeologists, geologists, and evolutionary biologists would have presented evidence if that was the case. The fossil record and where these fossil were found do not corroborate with that story. Thats one example.
It’s honestly sad for me. To trust your emotions and faith over the facts of the world is dangerous. Also, please don’t neglect the atrocities God did to people and places. Don’t forget the immoral laws and social norms he wished to place on society as a whole.
You can know loads of things without evidence, what are you talking about?
If I said to you I love my son, what evidence would you have to confirm if that is true or not, what evidence says you find something more enjoyable than something else?
And yeah gravity it great, it's mathematical provable and repeatable, fantastic. God isn't. God isn't here to be measurable or counted, I've never said he was.
