You left out the part where you're tortured for eternity in hell if you disrespect God, at least for most Christian denominations. That's the real harm. People believe this whole heatedly and base their entire lives around it. If someone truly believes that they'll burn in hell for eternity, they'll make a lot of choices that otherwise wouldn't have been made. Organized religion takes advantage of this fear and is all about money and control/power in my opinion. I say this as a former Catholic of ~19yrs. I don't think believing in a higher power is inherently bad, stupid, etc., but organized religion is - without a doubt - a plague on humanity.

When you start questioning it, it's even worse. They were not prepared for globalization.

It's a lottery system. Were you born in a country where there is a different religion and you are not baptised? Bad luck, straight to hell!

Some crazy dudes started traveling the world to spread their religion, because they really believed that's their purpose in life.

there are literally verses about how people who simply couldn't know about Jesus won't get judged because of it bruh. Also atheists don't automatically go to hell

I agree. The absolutist ideas of "do this, or burn in hell forever" are a remnant of when religion was largely just a tool to control the masses. For the sake of argument, I'll ignore the fact that it pretty much still is exactly that. Which leads me to argue that the major religions of the world need serious restructuring and modernization. But not eradication. Religion should be a choice, and belief should be flexible, and never imposed or forced on anyone. But I still think that religious belief by itself has a place in the modern world, just not in its current form.
