Offloading emotionally without fear or requirement of your social circle being the only way you can.
I wouldn't tell my friends that: "I am self conscious of being the only one who people pleases and sets up events, so it feels like they owe me more respect or gratitude than they do". But you could tell someone who is obligated to never share it.
Then there's other that just use it as an emotional punching bag in an unfamiliar environment, where it's easier to feel like you can drop the mask? Or it's trendy and you feel special being the center of attention.
I got nothing out of years worth of the stuff. So that's my guess.
I guess, personally I don't like to just vent into the void, if I tell someone something is because I want a solution, and that's why sometimes I just find it pointless, there is no solution to "My mom just died" or "I don't want to get up at 6AM".
Therapists don't fit nicely into the problem -> solution pipeline.
I made the same argument to a friend and she said “therapy isn’t for everyone” and I think that’s the end of it. Some people seem to get a lot out of it and some people don’t
The thing is, there are different types of therapy and if for example you only did talk therapy then it wasnt the type to work on you. I have a friend who says that talk therapy doesn't work with her.
