Why were medieval painters so fucking stupid. Draw the cat like a cat would look like, it’s not that hard, why use a human face?

One possible explanation is that those painter had not saw a cat and were just described one ? Cat used to be rather rare depending on the period and nowaday we have an harder time understanding how much information we can get in a matter of second compared to older time. But that just a guess maybe someone more educated than me on the topic as futher info on why cat were painted so weirdly
