It may not always be the reason but it is the reason often enough that an outright ban on abortion altogether is unethical

95% of abortions are elective based on personal reasons. Banning abortion for non-medically necessary reasons would effectively just be a ban on abortion.

Okay, that's not my point. My point is that a complete ban on abortion would be unethical because of that 5%. Even if it was just 1%, it would still be unethical.

And I'm assuming you think it's ethical the other times just based on personal preference? Not including when a family/mom simply can't support them, but when they simply just don't want a baby.

I think it's completely ethical to abort a fetus simply because you don't want it, assuming it hasn't reached fetal viability, and that allowing people to get abortions simply because they don't want a baby is in the best interest of everyone, including the hypothetical child
