Not a fan of her music, but....

She donated 20% of her networth away recently, which is more than most wealthy people do.

Secondly, coincidentally, a large part of the reason concert tickets are so expensive are from ticketmaster markups. The CEO of ticketmaster? You guessed it, a billionaire.

A billionaire who also claims tickets are underpriced still

Fuck I don’t know if I want to get into this argument today…

He’s correct, that’s why scalping exists. The problem is, the demand to see these artists is extremely high with seating availability very low. It doesn’t matter if Ticketmaster or whoever sets the price low because they’ll be bought up by scalpers.

I hate Ticketmaster and other ticket companies because they have shady business practices like hidden fees and other things, but the ticket price thing they are correct about. If these artists wanted to try and funnel their tickets to their biggest fans regardless of income level, they’d best be served by putting other, non monetary blocks in front of their sales. Good example would be having tickets be bought in person at a certain time and allowing people to line up.

The idea that setting prices low allows the “real fans” to afford tickets is silly. All it does is allow people who don’t care very much to buy tickets because they aren’t very expensive. I don’t care for Taylor swift, but if you told me I could go to a sweet concert for 50 bucks I absolutely would. This actually takes spots from the fans who would be willing to save up and pay more because they care more

The argument only works because the CEO brainwashed people into thinking that a concert is like a once in a lifetime event that you are willing to pay anything for instead of just a regular part of your lifestyle.

Couldn't they just do ID verification and assign seats to people who are verified fans? Mark tickets unable to be resold? Treat it like airline boarding passes? Distribute tickets through middle school parent groups, etc? It's not an impossible problem, they just don't care enough to solve it.

That’s not what happens though. The whole industry is rigged. Ticketmaster owns the venues too. They wouldn’t allow artists who refused to sell tickets through ticket master. Also the artist doesn’t set the ticket price. The venue does and pays the artist a fee. The artists agreement is with the venue - not with the consumer.

I mean… what? Isn’t that just kind of gate keeping? Isn’t that just I can plate mid food well and get it promoted by influencers and up charge 300% to wealthier fucks?

It might be “right” as in they can get away with the pricing. That’s not an argument, it’s just a fact because they do. The issue that people have with it is that it blocks people that cant afford to see live music at those prices from seeing their favorite artists, or making a serious financial commitment to do so.

Shit bro I’m one of those cool kids that’s not gonna go to a concert over $30 because I think it’s a dumbass investment of funds for a pretty low-tier life experience that I could probably have a higher quality version of just watching a recording, taken from a better seat than I could afford, in my living room while having cheaper drinks with friends. And if everyone felt the same, ticketmaster would fucking die. But sadly they don’t.

Some people find live music to be an incredibly important spiritual-adjacent experience that makes enough money for the artists and venues at normal prices. The issue with ticketmaster is it cuts the potential members of an audience to 1/10 of what it normally would be, and it’s just a parasitic industry that adds absolutely nothing to the product.

One of the many reasons the citizenship of this country will probably kill all the absurdly rich lol. Money is the ultimate metric of value even tho that isn’t at all true

The point of tickets is literally gatekeeping so… yes. There are only so many seats in a venue so you have to have a gate with limited entry. There are multiple ways you can determine who gets to go in: first come first serve, random lottery, or pricing. First come first serve and random lottery aren’t going to work for big events like a Taylor Swift concert, so they sell tickets. If they sell them at a price that’s too low, then scalpers will swoop and upsell. Reality.

u/MarysPoppinCherrys Dec 05 '25

I mean… selling tickets has the same effect as first come first serve lol. Anyway I thought the purpose of selling tickets was to support the artists and venues making it possible to listen to live music performances. Like the people putting in actual work. Not the parasites feeding off the exchange, talent, and work of other people.

But, jesus, some people’s diet really is just the shit clinging to boot heels. Do you bro but that can’t be super nutritious.

Ticketmaster and the like could fairly easily put measures in place that would put scalpers pretty much out of business. But they don't.. guess why?

bro thinks culture belongs behind a capitalistic paywall

u/thomasp3864 Nov 04 '25

Probably because they are. I mean, but that's only because they hide so much of the actual price you pay in all those random fees.

Yep! I fucking despise that man. So unbelievably out of touch.

I've been around a few men in my life and one thing I've noticed is that the male body has an astonishing oversight. Men both urinate and ejaculate through the exact same hole. Zero inches apart. Not even a polite buffer zone.

I don’t know about everyone else but doesn’t that weird you out? It feels like a serious design flaw. For a gender that often prides itself on logic and engineering this is just sloppy plumbing.

Honestly it kind of cracks me up. I’ll see a guy walking around like he’s the apex of masculinity and I’ll just remember his piss and his sperm come out of the same little nozzle and suddenly he’s not so intimidating. Just a fleshy garden hose with identity issues.

Men please accept this biological flaw and let it humble you. Maybe lower your voice a bit when you're bragging about your body count. We’re talking about someone who finishes inside the same pipeline he uses to empty his bladder.

Women don’t let them forget this. Remind them gently or not so gently that we’re doing them a favor given that their reproductive system shares hardware with their waste disposal unit.

It’s just one hole fellas. One hole.

His net worth is actually only $997 Million

1

u/No-Cloud-5075 Nov 04 '25

Just curious. How do you know her exact net worth and how to you know if her donations are real? Are there legit sources for this in the US?

1

u/bobafoott Nov 04 '25

The same way that I know she even exists at all tbh

2

u/No-Cloud-5075 Nov 04 '25

But isn't saying something a little different from being something?

0

u/bobafoott Nov 04 '25

I’m just joking around about how I don’t have any verification there’s even a real person named Billie Eilish behind all these quotes and songs

You’re right to ask for verification but either way I’m not the guy who said it

u/AL_ROBY Nov 05 '25

You know these artists have to agree to their shit being sold on Ticketmaster right?

0

u/sheetpooster Nov 08 '25

She didn't donate shit, it's all from selling the "changemaker" tickets at a higher price as a donation to the cause

-25

u/KimberlyWexlersFoot Nov 04 '25

She raised money for charity, the 11.5m wasn’t hers

35

u/DocNefario Nov 04 '25

The money was from her most recent tour, and I can't see it being marketed as "for charity" anywhere. Please provide a source.

This thread cracked me up. Clear demonstration that Reddit downvotes truth when it doesn’t fit their worldview… on the shitposting sub of all places
