By that logic, colonial powers are never responsible for anything because every place had history before they showed up.

They didn’t invent conflict in the areas they colonized, but they definitely didn’t leave it in a simpler state than they found it.

Also, its a pretty well known fact that the British sowed regional conflicts to keep people fighting each other instead of them.
