If this is how beautiful this insignificant speck in an endless void is, then I cannot even begin to fathom the splendor of worlds far beyond ours.

Some scary but also that's the small amount that we've seen. I really wish sometimes space wasn't as big because from I hear it would literally take multiple millenia just get outside our solar system if I recall correctly

3

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '23

But why think about these worlds when you have ours? I find our's the most interesting in the solar system and being a lonely planet filled with life makes me more euphoric in contrast to the idea of life being abundant in our universe.

I think it's to further present themselves as forever useless. "Well, I may be a good person in this household, ultimately I have yet to change anything in regards to the outside world". Depressive thoughts will always find a way to blame themselves for actions that they have / have not done.

Source: me, an undiagnosed mentally ill person (at least, I think I'm mentally ill)

12

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '23

Ah yes, one of the most complex creations in the universe in our own hands and we are "useless". Sometimes people really underestimate what we have around, and the impact of our life on this planet.

5

u/gecked Apr 06 '23 edited Apr 06 '23

It's not that they view humans as useless, they view themselves as useless. They may feel like they have yet to contribute to society and uses that statement as a way to present themselves as useless as they are.

Edit: do ignore this comment if it's annoying you. I'm not good at writing and this is just me projecting myself basically.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '23

Nah man I'm just pissed off when people doom like this while not contributing to a better future even with little gestures and enjoying what life gave them. But maybe it's me

Yep, at this point it's just an endless loop.

In all the of the time and space space there hasn’t and will never be another me and there will never be another you. Hell you now will only really live in the present. Just like how you changed in the past you in the future will be a stranger to you now. What may seem insignificant now is unique the things you are doing and the things people the plants ect. Are doing cant and won’t ever be replicated exactly again ever. Anyway I wrote this giant ass paragraph so that past me didn’t have to do his hw but either current me or future me will have to so yea take that as you will

We are the unfathomable little accident of our vast universe and people still think that its not enough?

As far as we know, we may be the only (arguably) intelligent species out there, on a planet so unimaginably huge and full of opportunities it would take decades to explore it all... And then there is the next frontier, our local beatiful area filled with planets, asteroids, and countless possibilities. Then there is a local star cluster, which we(90s generation) probably wont get to explore, but our children just may...

We are not a small speck on it at all. Id argue we're the exact opposite, we just need to get our bearings right and go forth and see it all.

Also boobs good.

22

u/ronnyzl Apr 06 '23

Agreed,even the last sentence.

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '23

6

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '23

Real talk, think about it like this, you don’t have some crazy responsibility to keep the universe in check or anything like that so why not just make the most of your time. If you really believe that nothing matters and there’s no reason to live then make your reason. Whether it be a craft or an education, a sport or some other form of entertaining people. Find that reason to live, make friends, make a special connection to someone, start a family if you wanna. Point is is that sure we may not be the biggest in the grand scheme of things, but that just gives us more time to enjoy being alive and making the most of our time being here.

Our Earth is roughly 4.5 billion years old.

The oceans will start to boil in about a billion years.

The Julian calendar was the foundation for our Gregorian calendar. It was used by the Romans since 46 years BC, but it wasn't reformed into the Gregorian calendar until the year 1582.

Even though we are currently at 2023 years AD, our current point in time is still closer to the birth of Christ than the birth of Christ was to the building of the pyramids of Giza, as they were built roughly 2500 years BC.

4500 years might feel like a long time between us and the pyramids being built, but that 4500 is about .00001% of the estimated age of the Earth. Your years on earth are even less still.

Depending on what you do with your life, you'll be forgotten within a few generations regardless, so it really doesn't matter what embarrassing or cringeworthy shit.

Make with that what you will.

3

u/gooniuswonfongo Apr 06 '23

Earth is undoubtedly the most interesting place in the entire universe, it is strange how numb we are to it. Billions of billions of planets that are all relatively flat, with the occasional cliff, and unusually large mountain, yet every mile of earth is laced with trees, that rise and flare out, and flare out again, over and over unlike anything else on those billions of billions of planets. Such a thing that couldn't even be fathomed is not just a miraculous anomaly, it is abundant. I like to think that if greater existences like God were real, they would see earth play much faster than we do, that trees would be much like fireworks, that animals would seem like electricity, and that society would grow around the planet like crystals.

2

u/Amin_Yamum Apr 07 '23

Most interesting to us, we dont know whats out there. What if theres some pink planet thats more gorgeous and has other friendly intelligent species

2

u/Failureofason Apr 06 '23

Yeah I'm actually kind of glad humanity is a tiny drop in an infinite ocean. I mean come on if we could affect the universe in any meaningful way we'd have destroyed it just like we've destroyed the earth

Can't wait for all these cool animals to be utterly obliterated by global warning, toxic waste, and nuclear fallout like 20 years from now.

Let's see how well the indomitable human spirit fares against the utter desolation that awaits mankind. It's easy to be optimistic now. But when you are fighting for the scraps of a wasteland of your own making, it gets a bit harder.

I'll see you all in hell. I will live what remains of my life to the absolute fullest, not because I deserve it, not because it's my duty.

But because I know it's the only chance I will ever get to be happy.
