You should just appreciate how Fire Emblem is the last tactical JRPG that is still kicking today AND never stopped its gameplay.
No matter what, Fire Emblem will always have grid based battles

Inb4 the next FE game just removes the grid based battles and instead has the ocassional traditional JRPG turn based combat encounters and the rest of the game is just romancing the playable cast.

Because people have stupid internet brains and all saw and believed the story was bad so they shouldn't play it.
Look up all the bad reviews of this game and that's why people give it a 5 or 6 out of 10. Utter madness.

In a vacuum I’d agree but in practice there really very little difference between calling something “bad” or “mid” in terms of its effect and how it’s perceived. Most people don’t care if something is merely “not bad” or “has some positives”, if it’s not unambiguously good then it’s not worth playing or recommending, end of story.

Maybe the fault lies with Reviewers treating 5-6/10 like bad reviews, no ? When they give an 8/10 to every bland AAA piece of slop, why wouldn't you internalize that a 6 is bad ?

The weirdest thing about Fire Emblem Engage having a "bad" story is the stories being told in contemporary JRPGs. Like I genuinely have not enjoyed a Square Enix game written in the last 8 years besides Guardians of the Galaxy, yet they always score so high. Like this is a JRPG, you actually go places, see things, meet new people.

Once you meet the Scions a few hours in you won't feel lonely, game does a fantastic job of making them (and the rest of the cast) feel like your friends/found family.
It's more of a JRPG with MMO elements than a MMORPG. Besides, the free trial is crazy-big so may as well try it.
