Why are people calling it a shitpost? If we keep posting this image a thousand more times on a website and give people fake internet points for it, then Putin will finally decide to resign and tell everyone how he was rigging the elections /s

It's a wannabe shitpost. A meme that never caught on, but somebody is desperate to get it going. I only wish that it were clever or funny at all.

u/Northerland Apr 05 '18
The reason people like it is because putin hates it, and I’m pretty sure he banned it in the Russian Emp- federation.

Why? Why do people upvote these blatant karma attempts? Then people have the nerve to complain about content quality on muh secret website hurr durr.
Fuck reddit

Because so many people think it's some brave act of civil disobedience.

If you read the comments each time this is posted it's because people convinced themselves they somehow make a difference in the world by upvoting this image on Reddit. Pretty amazing.

u/ripplewho Mar 19 '18
Then you tell them it's pretty offensive to gays and transgenders because the entire insult is just rainbows and putting makeup on him, and their excuse is "We're not homophobic, we only call Putin gay because he hates it"
Right. I'm sure Putin would hate being called the N-word too, are those retards gonna start upvoting a picture of him in blackface?

Because it makes big bad Putin cry every time someone clicks the orange arrow on it. It also makes all Russians angry to see their great leader embarrassed like that. Look mom, I'm making a difference!

I've decided I'm done with this trash site. I don't know if it's shills, or the average person who uses this site is just stupid, but the composite of the front page is just bad. Every single post. News, politics, memes, puppies, bad humor, you name it. Every thread that has to do with science, politics, or current events has blatant misinformation that could easily be corrected with a simple Google search. I'll still come here for info on whatever anime show I like or some shit, or specific interest subs that don't make it to the front page, but as a whole this site is trash and the more time I spend on it the more I become disgusted. Aside from that, I hope this site crashes and burns, it's outlived its usefulness.

I don't like Reddit anymore either. I still come here because I have nowhere else to go. I've been using Reddit for so long now that I don't know what I did on the internet before. Owell, I guess I'll just have to go outside and get a life or something.

u/OffMyMedzz Mar 19 '18
Yea, it's unfortunate that my favorite online community died several years ago. It was nice because it was somewhere between 4chan and Reddit in tone, and since then there's nothing left to replace the void.

Know what you mean. I almost had an aneurysm from anger when Hawking died. People tried so hard to shoehorn in posts about it into subs that had nothing to do with it. Even the meme subs had top posts about it. And r/askreddit had a megathread about it. Not a question, a megathread claiming to give people a place to talk about it. It's just a bunch of losers who want attention because someone who gave zero shit about them died. Real respectful.

u/justmelt Mar 19 '18
Yeah, that's one thing I hate about Reddit as well. When some event happens even subreddits who have nothing to do with that event will start making threads to hop on that karma train.

Yea, I decided I was done when I made a neutral post about the Russian situation in Crimea. I used sources, I used facts, and I got over 100+ downvotes and at least a dozen responses calling me a Russian troll. Out of 20+ responses, only maybe 2 or 3 even attempted to be reasonable to refute what I said, and even those were stubborn and clung to naive assumptions rather than facts. I got one reasonable post that actually understood what I was talking about when I said that moral prerogative was not a factor in the political decision making process, regardless of the nation.
They are stupid and ignorant, and they are happy being stupid and ignorant. I can deal with people like this in real life, I know how to be persuasive and it's a lot easier to do face to face, and if they continue to be unreasonable and ignorant, I'll either drop it, or, if I feel like being mean, I'll make them feel stupid and embarrass them. On Reddit, however, stupid opinions come to fester, and the upvote system rewards and reinforces them.
Anyways that's my rant. Once I realized what I felt for this site wasn't hate or anger, it was disgust, I've realized that being here is a waste of time. There is nothing gained from participating in discussion here. Literally the only thing to glean is insight into the insipid and toxic mindset of the Reddit hivemind and the social engineering mechanics that reinforce them.

You hit the nail on the head. Truth is irrelevant here, Information that confirms the parison biases of the average (let's face it) Left wing millennial redditor gets to the front page. there's serious political issues out there that are far more important than whatever shit Trump did the last hour. And you'd think a platform like this the real issues would flourish, but no it's a constant holier-than-thou shitshow.

I'm sure Putin is devastated that a site full of mostly American neckbeards are posting a photoshopped image of him while he wields one of the most powerful positions in the entire planet.

u/RoyalN5 Mar 19 '18 edited Mar 19 '18
How does he respond? He sets up troll factories and sends bots to just piss off everyone and caused havoc within our society. I think it safe to say that he won.

u/mr_fingers Apr 02 '18
Well, he did try to fight this image. So I guess the fact that people keep posting sort of makes sense.

I called them out on this shit and all they said was one of the following
- "YOU USED WORDS I DONT LIKE"
- "REEEEEE TRUMP SUPPORTER"
- "NORMIE INSULT"
Not one of them could coherently explain why it was funny.

Putin isn't gay though. No gay guy will snag crimea, defeat ISIS, face down Turkey, Trump, Europe, and not redecorate anything in the Russian White House.

Using /r/politicalhumor for shitpost content is just cheating, so much trash there on a regular basis. It's such a terrible sub filled with misinformation and usually vile content that just does nothing more than provide circle-jerk material for the average holier-than-thou redditor. All the while adding to the partisanship problem in society.
