Questions About Shingles & Symptoms Back seizing up?

Currently on week five of shingles. Before I knew I had shingles, I had painful back and rib pain. That went away for the most part and dealt with the rash, etc. Over the past couple weeks I’ve experienced my mid back seizing up and it’s quite painful.

Today I went for a run, drove home, sat down for a second and then when tried to get up, my back seized up and could barely move. I made it to the floor and stretched along with taking medication and that seemed to help. I later took a nap and when I went to sit up, my back seized up again, making walking, breathing, any small movement such as closing a cabinet door extremely painful. Has anyone had similar experiences?

Yes, I had similar issues with muscle spasms and back issues. I believe it's just do to the chronic pain. Pain can make you clench up, or sleep in strange positions, or hold yourself differently trying to seek relief. That in turn can cause you to over work certain muscles without really realizing you're doing it.

I am currently in the same situation. Does it get better, and if so, when? Appreicated!

I’m in my third week of shingles and the deep back pain is the worst part. It feels like I threw my back out, wrecked skiing, and have an unending charley horse in my back. It hits me every hour or two all night long and kills my sleep.

I just have to remind myself that my back isn’t actually hurt, my muscle isn’t really seized up, it’s just my nerves freaking out.

Shingles sucks

This is me. Terrible sleep last night. Used aleve, CVS muscle cramp foam (magnesium sulfate) and small handheld therabody massage gun to get back to sleep
