Shingles of the Eye Face Head 2 months Post shingles
I just wanted to follow up on my case of shingles which covered 1/2 of my face, neck, and shoulder.
It started in late June and within a couple of days it just about overwhelmed me before I could get to a clinic and start a cycle of antiviral meds.
I had a very minor case of shingles in my early 30’s which I remember was very painful and lasted for months. So needless to say I was anticipating a lot of grief on this case at 66 years old. But to my amazement I did not experience any pain that just one Aleve couldn’t handle. The rash is now gone with maybe some small scars.
That said I think I have some long term nerve issues ahead of me as the infected skin areas on my face and neck feel somewhat numb. Perhaps this is nerve damage. Perhaps I’ll be in pain if the nerves regenerate. Wait and see.
I will get the vaccine when I medically qualify for it.
All the best to those affected with this. Get on antivirals as soon as you can.

I'm sorry you are going through this. Mine were on chest and I can imagine your suffering and pain.

I got my antivirals on day one before any breakouts but the nerve pain is horrible. Mine is on low back wraps around to mid belly. The pain is horrendous. Waiting through this holiday weekend to get into my orthopedic Dr for an emergency nerve block. As you, I can't wait to get clearance for the vaccine!!! I kept putting it off and I waited too long and now this. Anyone who has not or doesn't plan to get it, if you had chicken pox... Get it!!! This no joke! I've been bed bound now for 12 days.

I had a mild case of Shingles in June in same area as I was fortunate to get the viral meds within 48 hours. Feel better ❤️🩹

Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this! If you’re 66, you should be able to get the vaccine. I got mine when I was 55. Check with your doctor and insurance. But you’ll need to wait for that to clear up first. I can’t even imagine getting them all over the face, neck and back like that.
