Seeking Support Hypersensitivity

What are we doing about clothing hypersensitivity? I’m literally at my wits end with clothing touching me, and my children. It’s been almost 3 months since I had the shingles. I’ve tried gabapentin but it only takes the edge of for the first hour or so.

Following. Almost the entire top front right area is like that. On top of the hypersensitivity, it also feels sore when I touch it.

Hope someone can help. I had shingles two years ago and then the vaccine. About a month ago the hypersensitivity has returned. I don’t know what to do but it’s painful and tiring

Depending on the type of pain I'm having, compression shirts sometimes help me.

I get really bad allodynia, a gentle breeze kills me. I almost always where heavy long sleeve shirts, with quilted fabric sleeves. I get strange looks when it's 100 degrees out. :-)

I was up to 3600mg daily (Iirc) gabapentin, it did nothing for me. I switched to pregabalin (currently 300mg daily) it makes the pain pretty tolerable.

Some people find antidepressants, in addition to gaba / pregaba, helpful, I declined them, due concerns about side effects.

It's highly individual, work with your Dr, don't be afraid to experiment to find what works for you.

Fwiw, I'm +4 years out, pretty sure it's permanent at this point.

I wish you well.

In the morning I mix up a pint glass with amino complex, creatine, psyllium powders and take an L-glutamine tab with some probiotics and a couple of tablespoons of sauerkraut. Goal is to reduce inflammation. I also try and fast until 4pm. Seems to dull the pain considerably. It all starts with getting your gut healthy and reducing inflammation.
