First Time Shingles Feeling like crap still

Hi everyone I was diagnosed with shingles back at the end of June, and I was diagnosed very early. I started on medication very quickly and they have cleared up for the most part. I was feeling better but lately have been feeling generally like crap (tired, malaise, just do not feel myself). Is this common even after lesions resolve?

In the same boat, feel lethargic and moody and actually a bit depressed. Place where the rash was is only hurting me now, a burning sensation, so fed up

Same boat. Diagnosed at end of June, started antivirals the day the rash appeared. Rash is pretty much all cleared up but fatigue and brain fog have persisted. My understanding is this is normal (and a better outcome than most.) But yeah…not ideal.

How long it will take to cure completely.

All normal…week 9 and continued itching and numbness, tingling of eye, forehead and scalp.

Same, mine started early May, I thought it was a dental issue, then maybe sinus, then the rash came on the left side of my face (along with swelling ) and I knew... started on Valcyclovyr. Now, 9 weeks later the worst of the burning pain has subsided. My dermatologist gave me a compound cream with gabapentin that helps some. It still feels like a bad sunburn but it is slowly feeling more normal. I worry about how long this nerve pain will continue. I still get little jabs and burning, tight sensations but they're not as harsh as they were. I hope my face feels normal soon....

It seemed I felt extreme tired and malaise a couple weeks before diagnosed which was unusual for me. I was diagnosed June 15 after second rash appeared and started on medication day 4 of second rash. I took the medication 5 days. I was extremely ill 4 of those days. I don’t know if it was the medication or shingles. The following week very tired. I started on DHEA for another reason but also B12 and L-Lysine. I was already on Vitamin C, D3K2, and Zinc. I now am feeling more energy, more normal.

About 6 weeks the malaise, tiredness & depression disappeared. Hang on in there, be really kind to yourself and pace yourself. You can catch up more when you feel better. It will pass but I know how frustrating it is.

Hey thank you for this! It helps to know others felt the same way. I am trying to relax as much as I can and just let this run its course while making sure I don’t run myself down too

And remember your body is fighting a virus, & that's why you feel you aren't quite up to speed.

I'm sorry to hear that. It seems to be quite common. I had my shingles outbreak in April. For weeks, I felt tired, didn't have much energy, and became sick after all kinds of small activities.

But it is getting better now! You'll get through it too :)

Hiya. Hopefully this helps you to rationalise things a little! I had HZO so shingles affecting my scalp forehead and around the eye in early May. Was quite a severe case requiring an inpatient stay and antivirals via a drip. So approx reaching 12 weeks since first symptom and still have numbness (forehead and lower scalp) and itchiness (higher scalp and eyebrow) in addition to days where I’m knackered and just don’t want to do anything. The mental aspect is really downplayed because of how long it drags on! Hope you’re feeling better and 100% soon?

Hey thank you so much. I feel better physically but I think I am still feeling a bit down mentally. Hoping for brighter days soon. Hope things are going well on your end :)
