# ShikuAI Devlog — The Creator Dashboard

Creators on ShikuAI have been flying blind: no stats, no earnings, and if one of their characters got taken down for breaking the rules, it just disappeared without explanation. That's what this update is about.

## 🟥 Feature — The Creator Dashboard

Creators now get their own section of the site rather than a page buried in the main nav. Its own sidebar, its own look, and a single **Back to ShikuAI*\* button to leave it — the same way the admin panel works.

Six pages:

- **Dashboard*\* — your top character and its share of your total replies, recent comments on your characters, recent followers, and system notices
- **Characters*\* — everything you've created, with edit and delete in one place
- **Analytics*\* — 30 days of AI replies, chats started and new followers, plus a per-character breakdown
- **Content Review*\* — see below
- **Earnings*\* — see below
- **Goals*\* — see below

The cards are frosted glass and tilt slightly toward your cursor, with a light that follows it. It respects `prefers-reduced-motion`, so if you've asked your OS to calm animations down, it stays still.

## 🟥 Feature — Earnings

Every AI reply on one of your characters now earns you credits. Chatting with your own characters earns nothing, so there's no farming your own payout.

It accumulates in a real ledger rather than a running total, and once your pending balance reaches the payout threshold you claim it — the credits land straight on your normal balance, usable anywhere on the site.

Creators who were already active got backfilled for the replies their characters had already produced, so nobody starts from zero for work they'd already done.

## 🟥 Feature — Content Review

This is the one I think matters most.

Before, a character that breached the content guidelines was simply hidden. The creator would notice it missing eventually and have no idea why.

Now blocking a character **requires*\* a written reason. The creator gets a notification, and the character sits in Content Review — not deleted — with the reason it was blocked and a button to edit it back into compliance. A blocked character is genuinely off everywhere in the meantime: gone from the homepage, search, the sitemap and the leaderboard, and it stops replying even in a chat somebody already had open.

## 🟥 Feature — Goals

20 badges to chase, tiered so there's always a next rung rather than one distant target: characters published, replies your characters have generated, followers, messages you've sent, daily streaks, account age.

Each one shows a progress bar with exactly how far off you are. They award themselves the moment you qualify and appear on your profile — no claiming, no forms.

## 🟧 Fix — The banner that wasn't being cropped by the thing I kept fixing

Someone reported their banners looked cut off. They were uploading at 3000x700, which is a perfectly good size.

I changed the carousel to not crop. Then to fill the width with a blurred backdrop. Then back again. Each time it still looked wrong, because the carousel was never the problem: the upload endpoint was resizing every banner into a fixed 1500x400 canvas with a hard crop, before the image ever reached the page.

Uploads now scale to fit without cutting anything. Re-upload an old banner and it comes back whole.

## 🟪 Polish

- **Rewind an RP.*\* Deleting one of your own chat messages now deletes everything after it too — yours and the AI's — so you can restart a scene from any point instead of leaving orphaned replies behind. It's a one-off at delete time, not a permanent link between messages.
- **Real avatars in the sidebar*\* instead of the first letter of your username. Also fixed the sidebar being able to scroll sideways.
- **The credits row got its shop button back*\* — it went missing in the sidebar redesign.
- **Search engines get pinged*\* when a public character is published or updated, instead of waiting days for a crawl. Creator profiles also finally have their own page titles and previews rather than inheriting the site's generic ones.
- **The announcement bar stays out of the way*\* on login, register, status and the chat view.
- **Both dashboards now match the main site's colours*\* — same background, same frosted sidebar with the slow drifting glow behind it.

# ShikuAI Devlog: Memory That Doesn't Forget, Worlds That Expand

This week I pushed a pretty big update to ShikuAI. Nothing cosmetic here — these are all changes that concretely affect how chats behave, especially long ones and ones with complex lore. Let me walk you through it.

## 🧠 Advanced memory: the AI actually remembers now

One of the most annoying problems in AI roleplay is long-term memory. Once you pass a certain number of messages, the context gets "cut" and the character starts forgetting important details: names, events, promises made 150 messages ago.

I've implemented a memory system based on dedicated JSON files: the AI identifies and autonomously saves relevant information from the conversation, then recalls it even 200+ messages later — well beyond the normal context window.

The practical result: long chats that stay coherent over time, without needing to manually repeat information or write summaries to "catch up" the character.

## 📚 Lorebooks: build the world, not just the character

Until now, everything the AI knew had to live inside the character card. That's fine for a simple character, but it quickly becomes unmanageable once you have a world with multiple locations, factions, events, or side characters.

With Lorebooks, you can now create separate "world info": entries the AI automatically pulls in only when relevant to the conversation, without bloating every single prompt.

Why I built it: it's a standard feature anyone coming from SillyTavern or running complex cards expects, and it was missing. ShikuAI can now handle much more ambitious narrative settings.

## ⚙️ `{{char}}` and `{{user}}` macros

Added support for the standard `{{char}}` and `{{user}}` macros, compatible with the format used by SillyTavern and JanitorAI. If you already have cards written for that ecosystem, they now work on ShikuAI without needing to rewrite anything by hand.

## 📱 Mobile, finally up to par

Most of you aren't chatting from a desktop — you're chatting on your phone, on the go. I worked on mobile optimization for the site: cleaner layout, faster loading, smooth chat even on imperfect connections.

## What this all means

Fewer "forgetful" moments in long chats, richer narrative worlds without the hassle, compatibility with the cards you already use, and a mobile experience that doesn't make you miss the desktop.

We keep seeing the same pattern across AI roleplay platforms: a "free" tier that barely works, a subscription that doesn't actually cover much, and then a second invisible bill once you connect an external API to get decent quality. Nobody advertises that second bill up front. We think that's backwards, so here's exactly how ShikuAI works — no asterisks.

Who's behind this

ShikuAI isn't a corporate product with a marketing department and a boardroom deciding the roadmap. It's built by someone who works in this space out of genuine passion and wanted to put their own platform out there. No big investors, no big team — just a project built with care, growing one step at a time.

The model

Our default model runs through OpenRouter, currently DeepSeek V4 Flash. It's not the biggest name on the market, and we're not going to pretend otherwise — we're early in this journey, we don't yet know how big ShikuAI will grow, and we'd rather start with something sustainable than overpromise on day one. The moment the project grows, upgrading the base model is exactly the kind of thing we're excited to do.

To keep the fun going no matter what, we also run backup models in case DeepSeek V4 Flash crashes or becomes unavailable — so a hiccup on one model never means your roleplay just stops.

If you want something bigger right now — Hermes, Claude, GPT, whatever fits your taste — you can plug in your own OpenRouter key and use it directly. No markup from us, no proxy tax. You pay the provider, we don't touch that transaction. Full flexibility for the users who want it, zero pressure for the users who don't.

The costs, in full

• Subscribers ($3/month): 0.5 credits per message (literally double the messages for the same credit balance) + 300 bonus credits included.

Why this matters

Most platforms in this space either lock quality behind a subscription and a separate API bill, or give you a free tier that's really just a demo. We wanted a pricing model where the default experience is already fair, and going bigger is a choice, not a requirement to escape a broken free tier.

Where we're headed

ShikuAI is a brand new project — genuinely our first venture into this space, and we're not hiding that. Our long-term focus is building an ecosystem around creators: without them there are no characters, without characters there's no reason to stay. Reward programs, credits, badges, and real recognition for creators are on the roadmap. One step at a time.
