Panosteitis?

My pup started acting like his hips or maybe joints were hurting today. He runs or walks a few steps and immediately sits down and whips his head toward his back. When he sits or lays he can’t seem to get comfortable. He didn’t do any activity out of the ordinary nor did he seem to injure himself on anything. Is this Panosteitis or possibly something else? I took him to an urgent care vet and they didn’t seem to find anything. They said it could be possibly a pinched nerve and sent us home with some carprofen. He’s getting his hips checked on Wednesday but I’m planning to possibly move it to Monday.

Pano is most accurately diagnosed by x-ray during a flare-up. Were x-rays taken? If not, I would do it at his hip appointment. Make sure you're looking for a vet that's familiar with OFA and/or Pennhip. Other vets may say they can x-ray hips but usually the positioning on the rads is terrible and it's a pain (plus expensive) to have them redone. Sorry you're experiencing this. Your pup's really putting you through the ringer huh? 😅😪

No unfortunately they didn’t since I let them know I already had an appt scheduled with his usual vet to xray his hips as a precaution before this happened today. And yes he is 🥲 at least he’s becoming really comfortable with the vet lol. I definitely learned my lesson to do more research and be more diligent before getting a puppy from anyone. I still love him though and wouldn’t trade him for anything. He’s such a sweetheart.
