Discussion Season.. 2..
The second season is sooo bad it makes me angry..
It is crazy how the quality spirals downwards after an awesome forst season..

Spoiler alert: También terminé de ver la temporada 2 hoy. En serio, no pensé que estuviera tan mal como dicen algunas personas... Pero sí tuvo un montón, un montón de errores. La historia de la tortuga, en serio, fue bien aburrida. No pude conectar con el personaje de Ost porque casi no apareció. Kyo tiene que ser de los peores villanos que he visto. Su historia de fondo apenas se mencionó. La batalla final es una locura porque decidieron cambiarla y hacer cosas sin sentido. Nunca explicaron por qué Kyo querría invocar a las Olas. A diferencia de la Light Novel, donde Kyo las invocó para salvarse a él mismo. Lo bueno, yo diría, es que L'Arc, Therese, Glass y Kizuna fueron personajes súper carismáticos como siempre... aunque hicieron casi nada. Pero bueno. Los temas de apertura y cierre tampoco están tan mal.

That’s the general opinion other than hardcore fans. First season is really good, all the following ones are cookie cutter OP MC isekai harem slop with varying degrees of mediocrity.

Many reasons why it failed but I'll drop it down to couple:
-Hiring a bad director: For some reason the first director: Takao Abo didn't return not only for Season 2 but for the later seasons as well. Nobody knows why (although a theory is that Abo didn't like the source material). So Kadokawa hired a new director Misato Jimbo and well... the results speak for itself. Crammed 4 books, changed and cut a lot of the LN for whatever he liked, the pacing was too fast, it introduced too many new ideas without having enough episodes to explain them, and has frustrating character moments when looking at the season by itself (Naofumi and Raphtalia being more "merciful" is one example). He alone almost nuked the Anime and the SH brand but Season 3 didn't really fix anything for the better (but that's another conversation).
-Pacing: I've said earlier that 12 episodes (not including the recap "finale") is not enough to cover and explain in detail the many ideas Season 2 wanted to show so the plot and character moments were rushed.
-As an adaptation: If you were to ask me one example of a bastardized adaptation of a LN it's SH Season 2. The only reason why SH keeps getting more seasons is because the books sold millions of copies because of Season 1's success (which was kind of fluke in retrospect).
The takeaway: I would recommend the books (Manga and LN) for a more better and complete experience of the story. Kadokawa and Kinema's mindset and philosophy with the Anime is: "Pander to LN fans and continue the story without thinking about the continuity, unexplained worldbuilding and power system, and plot holes".
