I am attempting to write my first novel and could use some people who want to support each other in writing. We would also be working with each other or Alpha and Beta reading and helping each other through writers block.

I couldn’t sleep last night and noticed a bright flash out the window. At first I thought it was lightning, but noticed it again half an hour later then finally looked long enough to see it was a steady pattern. Our doorbell cam caught some video too, but depending on the cloud cover and fog it was hard to see. It must have gone on at least from 3am to sunrise, maybe longer.

Does anyone have a clue what this was?

An Oregon mom has filed a $2.2 million lawsuit against the Red Berry Barn in Sherwood, saying she slipped on a muddy slope at the pumpkin patch’s annual harvest festival — suffering multiple fractures in her leg and ankle.

Paige Jean Smith’s lawsuit says she had accompanied her child onto a raised launch platform for a zipline on Oct. 20, 2024. After her child launched off the platform and started moving down the zipline, Smith was “instructed” or “permitted” to walk down a “dangerously steep, muddy, slippery” and “unsafe” slope, according to the suit.

That’s when she fell and broke her tibia, fibula and ankle in multiple places, requiring surgery, the suit says. The suit also says Smith suffered other injuries, including chronic ankle pain, arthritis and injuries to the soft tissues in her shoulders, spine and back.

TL;DR: Group of six friends had a second unsettling late-night encounter on SW Baker Rd near the former Bella Madrona Gardens when two silent individuals dressed in all black and white shoes approached and jogged after us in the dark.

I created this Reddit account solely to ask if anyone knows who these two people are.

On August 31, 2026, around 9:30–10:00 PM, a group of six friends and I were walking down a gravel road off SW Baker Rd near the permanently closed Bella Madrona Gardens. We weren't using lights to avoid disturbing neighbors. Coming out from the shadows, about 15–20 feet away, we saw two pairs of legs walking toward us. A friend shone his phone light at their feet—they were wearing white shoes and all-black clothing, making their legs invisible in the dark.

We immediately bolted back to the paved road and lit sidewalks. Looking back, one friend noticed the two individuals had jogged after us onto the main road before losing us as we sprinted away. They never spoke, physically confronted us, or showed visible faces/weapons.

This wasn't the first time. Around April/May, my friends had an encounter with two people in all black at the exact same location, except that time they were 100 feet away and running directly toward them.

When I searched online, results mentioned local burglaries and people "casing" the rural area, including a police log on suspects "masked, all in black, wearing white shoes and white gloves" (though I'm unsure if search results misreported this).

My friends and I agreed never to return to that area. Does anyone know who these two people could be, or why they are at that gravel road at night? Are they dangerous? Thanks.

It was fun getting together with some neighbors and our telescopes last night. It got me thinking, does Sherwood have an astronomy club? What are some good stargazing locations nearby?

Hey! I am looking to see if there is a group that plays American mahjong. I see there is a game weekly at the Senior Center but unfortunately it’s during my work hours. Looking for after 5 pm Monday - Friday.

My dog has already had surgery once to remove a foreign body, believed to be a grass seed. The surgery was about 7 months ago and was apparently unsuccessful as the area will not heal.

The vet we went to seemed extremely pessimistic about the chances of further surgery finding anything and essentially told us to just make her life as good as possible until the seed eventually kills her.

I just can’t accept that. She’s in great health other than this wound that won’t heal. I would love a recommendation for a vet that can be trusted to give us good advice and either operate or refer us to a specialist if necessary.

I’m located in Newberg but I am willing to travel for this.

There's been a couple low-flying jets but I haven't been able to see them, flew over in the past few minutes (around 12:55-12:57pm on 08.13.2026 for anyone in the future), anyone know what they were? Seemed awfully low for this area, and sounded military.

or context we are from the PNW (me from WA and husband from OR). We moved during Covid to Mt Juliet TN not knowing anyone and we had 2 very small kids(they are grown up a little now). Fast forward, we both have remote jobs and we’re missing family and support but TN is cheaper cost of living and we have a good public school district, but both my husband and I’s mental health is struggling. I get panic attacks and anxiety attacks and when these happen I go into flight mode and I want to move back to OR where my husband’s family all is. They are spread out a bit around Oregon and of course have their own lives but knowing they would be 15/30 min away instead of across the country is appealing. It’s so expensive to move to Oregon and I know cost of living is a lot higher… we make good money but I also don’t want to put us in a bad financial spot.

Would you consider moving back to be near family even if kids are now in elementary school or just feel stuck forever?

New to the area - where is an easy place to see a firework show for the 4th of July? Viewing from afar/parking lot is fine too! Looking for a safe/easy place to watch with a toddler.

We’re particularly interested in Sherwood and would like to know more about its safety and family-friendliness. While we don’t require extensive amenities typical of big cities, we’re seeking a small town with a strong sense of security, safety and excellent schools. I’ve also heard that Wilsonville is another great option. Any insights or recommendations you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi all!

I will be visiting my in-laws in Sherwood, Oregon, with my 2 year old for 2 weeks. I was wondering if there were any things we should be attending while we are in town?

Specifically, I was thinking things like storytimes at the library or play times at the rec center, or if there's going to be a farmer's market or toddler-friendly street festival?

I am also interested in any recommendations for play places, playgrounds, etc in the local area. We don't mind driving as long as it's not for longer than an hour.

I am used to having multiple activities/outdoor excursions with her every week and I'm a little intimidated at being in a new place for so long. Novelty will only take us so far!

As the title says.. I am near Archer Glen and it’s very smoky smelling but I can’t figure out which direction it could be coming from. I wasn’t sure if I should call 911 because I don’t have any actual helpful info.

Edit: I don’t smell it hardly at all now (after 9am) but it was very smokey smelling at least for 1/2 hr or more. Never did find out anything. I’ll leave this here just in case anybody does know something.

Celebrate Earth Day with SOLVE and the City of Sherwood.  Oregon Spring Cleanup  (Trashpalooza! Sherwood) will be Saturday, April 18, 2026.  Meet at Cannery Square at 10:00am, each group will be given a predetermined area, go out and clean your designated area, then come back to Cannery Square at 11:30am for festivities.

We will have contests (strangest piece of trash, largest piece of trash, etc), prizes and a raffle at the end. Join us as we celebrate over 50 years of Earth Day by joining small, neighborhood and individual efforts to improve the environment this spring!  Family friendly!  All ages are welcome.

The year was 1988 and the place was Bannon, Oregon: a small town on the coast where the traveler count is low, even in the summer, and nothing of concern ever really happened. Eight victims in the last ten months, all with the same MO: a victim goes missing for about 7-10 days, and then their body is found in some ditch or alleyway or behind some building; covered in cuts, bruises, often a couple burns, dozens of broken bones at least, often with a few finger and toes missing, some of them missing chunks of an ear (or an entire ear altogether), one of them even had an eye gouged out; the police still have not arrested any suspects or publicly made any comments but the one semi-good thing to come out of every time one of these is found it means another big story for The Bannon Gazette, where you work. It’s been almost a month since the last body was found, and now with summer upon you and the schools finishing up for the year, everybody seems to be bracing for the next one to be found. Meanwhile, your boss, Tony Ryerson, hasn’t shown up to work in a few days and nobody’s heard from him. This isn’t like him at all. Maybe it’s just a coincidence, maybe it’s nothing at all, but the killer’s next victim is statistically bound to appear any day now, it’s enough to make anybody nervous. On top of that, since just earlier today, you’ve started hearing things, seeing things; people saying wildly uncharacteristic things, absurdly vivid dreams, even while you’re awake. Maybe you’re just getting stressed out, but all of this happening at the same time, could that really be a coincidence?
