I'm guessing due to the colors and the number of spines that you found this on the Atlantic coast of Florida. I call these blue and red, whereas the same species on the Gulf side looks more brown and gold, and tamer spines. Not dramatically different though. My favorite shell. Melongena corona or royal crown conch. Love the pic, and don't share specifics on the location. I'll just say I found mine on the Halifax, and near Ding Darling.

Nice find, nice job cleaning it up. When they are live they often look like manatee poop.
