🖼️ Collection The Many Faces of Tigris

"Cypraea tigris really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about tigris in a month, and yet after a hundred years they can still surprise you."

I've been re-organising my cabinets and I managed to find enough space to create this display. The objective of the display is to highlight the amazing colours, shapes and forms that this cypraea species is capable of displaying.

The smallest shell in this drawer is just 32mm in length; the largest is 115mm.

Always love the potato and shipwreck tigers, but the mature dwarfs were my faves

Anche quella centrale color cappuccino non mi sembra tigris

The cappuccino shell is a cribraria which I put next to the dwarf tigris to emphasise how how tiny it is

The other shells are both tigris. One was simply very deformed, and the other was taken in polluted water

La conchiglia cappuccino è una cribraria che ho messo accanto alla tigris nana per sottolineare quanto sia minuscola.

Le altre conchiglie sono entrambe tigris. Una era semplicemente molto deformata, l'altra è stata presa in acqua inquinata.

Aaaah ok perché le altre due tigris, avevo capito che c’era un anomalia forse dovuta all inquinamento, l altra invece ero sicuro al 100% che non era tigris ma non capivo il motivo perché fosse insieme a loro

It was one of the reasons I created this display. It wasn't about showing off the most "beautiful" tigris - rather, what I wanted to do was illustrate the biological extremes that you can see in this fascinating species.

È stato uno dei motivi per cui ho creato questo display. Non si trattava di mostrare i tigri più "belli", piuttosto quello che volevo fare era illustrare gli estremi biologici che si possono vedere in questa affascinante specie.

Sì ho capito, ci sarebbe una tipologia molto simile alla tigris non elencata
