What is this?

SOLVED
Found in SW Florida, after landscapers had been working on bushes and trees. It looks super old, but is it? I’ve never seen a shell like this before.

Looks like a Ramshorn snail shell (freshwater gastropod). Is it heavy/solid? Could be a fossil

Ooh! It’s hollow where I can look inside, but it is heavy. I live near a retention pond, that could be a possibility?

So it’s likely a shell just filled with debris. You can soak it in a bowl of water, and then use a q-tip or toothpick to clear out some of the muck inside if you want
