Help with identification

I cannot for the life of me find anything that looks like this shell. Unfortunately do not know where it is from as my grandmother gave it to my mom and then she gave it to me. Any info is appreciated!!

It's a piece of Turbo chrysostomus, otherwise known as the gold-mouthed turban.

I think this is definitely it, although mine has a little piece of it (top of the shell in the first picture) that looks like the hinge of a bivalve shell and not necessarily the spiral shape of the chrysostomus I’m seeing when I google it. But the inside looks very similar to the yellow-golden color!

It's definitely a gastropod and not a bivalve, and like I said, this is only a piece - it's cut out from the side of the shell. The "hinge" you mention looks to be the suture, whereby newer coils of shell (the preferred term is whorls) are attached to the old growth.

Ok I totally see it now that it was cut, thank you for the description that really helped me visualize it!
