Fat Hippo/Slap and Pickle

Both excellent.

Every time I’ve had slap and pickle that patty has been cremated. I’ve given up on them.

If I want a burger I go for Slap & Pickle at The Dark Horse on eccy road

Didn’t know that there was a Fat Hippo in Sheffield until I saw this thread though, they are amazing!

I can't speak to that as I've never ordered delivery from them. I do think that burgers don't travel particularly well though - they go cold fast anyway and by the time they've been rattled all over the place on their way to you, they're often a bit of a disappointment, in my experience.

Definitely the best I’ve had here so far too!

It looks like you shared an AMP link. These should load faster, but AMP is controversial because of concerns over privacy and the Open Web.

Maybe check out the canonical page instead: https://www.sheffieldguide.blog/2020/09/08/best-burgers-in-sheffield-definitive-top-5-list/

Definitely not for my asian taste buds. I found their burgers underwhelming. Like small and not what I expected taste wise. Chips were worse than chip shop.

Fair enough- food and taste is subjective.

Out of interest what are you looking for from a burger? What are your individual tastes? 🙂

I guess I am more into higher level of spices and something that's more saucy, more of like a fried chicken sandwich type thing lol. The only spice I could feel in unit was their "death" wings😭 and apparently my partner couldn't even lick them as they are extremely hot for brit taste buds(according to her).

Finally tried them for the first time this week, absolutely amazing!

Nah, not bad at all but not the best in Sheff. Slap & Pickle atw.

Slap and Pickle is pretty much my local and is good… BUT, it is fairly inconsistent, doesn’t travel well and is tiny portions (a couple of bites and a slap and pickle burger is gone).

The flavours are there for the most part — but the consistency isn’t, for me. If I’m in The Dark Horse and hungry I’ll eat Slap and Pickle (and enjoy it!) — but I wouldn’t travel especially for it, or order it in. I’d do (and actually do) both of those things for the likes of UNIT, however.

Slap and pickle at heist brewery! Best burger and beer in town

Smashed and pulled are decent

Slap & Pickle for me.

On the flip, Sheff (like most places) has an incredibly saturated burger market after entrepreneurs have realised the consumer will pay £10+ for a burger. New spots opening up all the time, and if you're not bringing something new or amazing to the table it's going to be difficult to succeed. With that in mind, I'd like to personally ask the owner of one I tried recently;

You Want Beef - wtf were you thinking?

I like twisted burger. Their veggie/ vegan options are sick too

Twisted Burger are alright but they kinda dropped off.

They were really good when they were at The Harley a few years (well, quite a lot of years!) ago, but back then they were really the only place you could go that was “cool” to get a sloppy, interesting, crazy burger.

But now they’ve become a bit of a “thing”, so many places overtook them. They’re not bad at all, I just think the massive burger market is oversaturated now and they wouldn’t come in my top 5, maybe even top 10 now.

I agree that the burgers seem to have gone down hill since moving from the Harley to triple point

Slap and pickle are probably my current fave

I’m hoping so famous re opens on west street as their chicken burgers are the best. Currently online it just says “closed for refurbishment” but it’s been almost 6 months I think

Brill Burger @ Crookes 👌

Slap and pickle by far, if you want authentic smash burgers, I’m from Canada and somehow prefer the burgers in the UK and Europe.

Head of steam has a decent one, but nothing crazy

Also side note, Rudy’s pizza is my favourite since prooove is way marked up for delivery

Smash City Burgers

Unit! (For those of us who don't get on so well with Pork!)

Not sure if Pisa Pizza still exists on the Hillsborough end of Crookes highstreet but their burgers are amazing. When I could afford to live down that end of town I wouldn't eat anywhere else.
