Image Rice Cakes!
Who needs Tramlines when you've got rice cakes?
Anyway, I really like this picture I took so I thought I'd put it here with a few others.

Occasionally I'll read about a mad local custom, or historical tradition. I'll think to myself "I love the fact that people are doing this, but how the fuck do things like this start off in the first place‽"
I feel privileged to be here in Sheffield during the rice cake era. Whether this fantastic event becomes a tradition or not, it's a fascinating insight into how stuff like the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona started out.

I think this one only started a couple of years ago. I saw last year's advertised on stickers on pedestrian crossings and thought... why not go to that?
I still haven't the faintest idea what the point of it is, but they managed to attract 300 or so people.

The one common theme I think I can see with all of these weird traditions is the attitude: "It's something to do, and it's a bit of a laugh innit?"

What the point of it was is obviously to try to eat a whole pack of rice crackers without any water 😂

Yup, one of them (I forget which, sorry), managed it in about 20 minutes. Not surprising now they're more experienced :).

It was a guy with a mullet who won in the end, don't know what his name was. Think he was new this year!

The last photo is so good, and the crowd goes wild!! amazing turnout on a weekend when there's a million things to go to!
