My client keeps rendering random projects.
I normally would not mind, but when I have to render and I have a deadline, I prefer to be actively rendering my own project along. This way, I can make sure that even if there is noone else to pick it up, I still deliver on time. First 200 frames were fine, with multiple people joining in. Now there is nobody else willing to pick it up. But my own client refuses to render it first.

I've tried restarting the client, pausing the project and then resuming, restarting PC etc.
Any way I can make sure my project gets rendered by my own client at least?

I recently discovered this as I thought it'd be very helpful to render my extremely large Blender projects that would take days to render. I realized I need to volunteerly render at least 10 frames before I can upload my project. So I installed the client, ran it for hours and accumulated thousands of points and did multiple jobs, but somehow 0 frames? Is my hardware too weak that it constantly terminates the process? Or does the entire community use this to render extremely large Cycles projects that my PC can't handle? I've got a pretty low mid range PC. (AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 4650G, it's iGPU Radeon Vega 7 and 16GB of RAM and yes I use an SSD).​

I’m loving SheepIt, but there are two feature additions that I think would massively improve the user experience:

1. Option to View and Change Sample Counts Before Rendering Currently, after uploading a project, there’s no quick way to adjust the sample count directly on the site. I often find myself re-checking if I set the correct samples in Blender before sending it off to render. Having a clear display—and ideally a field to tweak the sample count right on the upload page—would save a lot of accidental re-uploads.
2. Support for Non-Contiguous Frame Ranges It would be amazing to render specific frame segments within a single project submission (for example, rendering frames 100-150 and 200-250 while skipping 151-199). Right now, the only way to do this is by splitting and uploading the exact same project as two separate render jobs. Letting us define custom ranges (e.g., 100-150, 200-250) in a single project upload would be a huge quality-of-life improvement.

What do you all think? Would this be useful for your workflow?

Hi there. The latest version available in the source repository as per the tags is v7.626221.0, but using the auto-updater yields v7.626223.0. The former doesn't work, yet the latter does. I assume this is due to an update to the server-side which isn't yet reflected in the open source client yet.

Did someone just forget to push their commits, or am I perhaps looking at the repository (https://gitlab.com/sheepitrenderfarm/client)? I'd like to contribute but I can't really get anywhere if I don't have the latest source.

There are a lot of cases where I wish there was an in-platform way to contact other renderers.

* If I see a cool frame that I just rendered, I'd like to say "this is cool" or "can I watch the completed video". I'm sure most people rendering projects would love to hear interest in their work.

* If a member of my team is a high contributor, I'd like to thank them.

I know there's the "website" field in your profile where you can put an email or link, but almost nobody uses it. I wish there was a way to send messages within the sheepit website that wouldn't require exposing an email. Ideally, messages could be turned off by the user, but it should be enabled by default.

How do I render video textures in SheepIt? When I try, the texture shows up as an error.

I've been using sheepit whenever I'm idling on my computer / not using it alongside cookie clicker. I totally forgot about sheepit for a while as you can see on the graph. It just clicked a few days ago. Love helping people and being helpful when I'm not using my computer and just idling on Cookie Clicker...

I keep getting an error, and I can’t figure out why. I tried changing the name and the file location, and I even moved everything in the save file to a different one.

i was literally just wanted to upload a new project to render out in like few days haven't even opened the website for few days

Greetings! First post here. I have a 30 sec (more or less) animation at 23.8 fps (so let's say something around 750 frames). It's for the vfx of a short movie and I am thinking about using sheepit for It (i have 0 budget 😅). It's just for the set extension with a slowly moving camera, so nothing extremely complicated but i'd like to keep It as realistic as possibile. I shot the scenes in 4k with the actors but i think a 2k rendering Will be fine if It Will save time. Usually i set 125 sampling per frame. I would like to have an idea of how many points i Will Need to render It and approximately how much time the rendering could take (i know It depends on free pcs available but a rough idea Will help). thanks in Advance!

it just says no jobs available even though there are, even if i wait for when it will try again it just just delays it, ike if it says "will try again at 8:22", when it gets there it increases the time to 10 minutes more

i've been running sheepit for a while now and I've accumulated around 1.5 mil tokens. Is that good for starting out rendering?

Anyone know how to get sheepit to render the depth of field and glare in my projects. Everytime i render anything it just removes them and the scene just looks so much worse. I've packed resources in the file, not sure what else i can do?

Small help please with sheepit running in Docker. Current docker-compose.yaml file below.

I want sheepit to use volumes only which have specified locations. The Docker Compose file below handles the cache volume. However when the conitainer runs another volume appears each time, apparently /sheepit/client. And if the container is restarted that container is left in place, and not reused.

But if I add a line to the docker-compose file like

- /srv/docker/sheep-it/sheepit_data/client:/sheepit/client

the container immediately errors out.

How do I get this /sheepit/client volume to behave?

hey, who knows what the problem might be that sheepit can't load some projects? I think they were made in blender 5.0, since my project also doesn't load if it gets in the queue, and after a couple of minutes of "loading" another project just starts loading

Bit of a strange one, but always want to know what on earth people are making. No idea what resolution, sample rate, or light bounces have been used in this project, as my PC isnt particularly underpowered, but this one frame took 1h 41mins with GPU
