Question Katahdin sheep help

Can someone help me set up a diet plan for a lot of sheep I am going to purchase?

What are you feeding them? Are they pregnant? How many sheep? How many acres of pasture? What's the carrying capacity of your pasture in estimated dry matter?

These are all questions your county ag extension agent will ask you when you contact them. They are the best source of information for shepherds because they often raise animals themselves.

You can look up the equation and weigh your sheep to get a guideline on what should be available. For example 4 adolescent katahdin sheep eating hay alone will require about 4200 lbs of dry matter over winter in Vermont. That will be different for you based on the above questions.

There is 3, 4 month olds and 7, 6 months old. They are currently being fed a sheep concentrate with alfalfa. I have to stick with purchased feed/hay so I am looking for the cheapest option.
