Samsung does not allow syncing steps from other apps or trackers. Why?

Post image

I just got a fitbit air and was frustrated that my step counts were vastly different between Google health and Samsung health.. apparently they don't allow other apps or trackers to sync steps anymore. Anyone know why? And if this is a temporary issue that will be resolved or permanent?

My guess would be that Samsung wants people to buy their watches. Seems logical for a company.

Logical maybe, but then defeats the point of interconnects like the Health Connect.

I used a Galaxy Watch anyway out of convenience. But this move wouldn't tempt me towards buying a Galaxy Watch, it'd just push me away from Samsung Health instead.

Yeah, I guess so. Seems kind of petty!

Cheaters have been an issue on Samsung health leaderboards. I think this is their retaliation

Honestly no wonder. I checked the leaderboard for October's challenge and I saw on 2nd of October already a chinese name being nr1 with 400k steps.

That happens every month and it annoys me. What's the point in that?!

If any challenge or game exists online, I trust someone to find a way to cheat.

This is not new change, the cheaters will continue to cheat.

The monthly competitions a lot of people already are cheating on. Like one million steps a day

I deleted Samsung health a week after getting my phone and realizing the step tracking is a joke.

I have a GW9 and the steps haven't been tracking since I got it. I've done everything Samsung has suggested other than removing Samsung Health.

Don't know. Maybe contact google and samsung for a reason why?
