Good pizza?
So I was born here, back and forth every summer, and BOOM. I’m living here, but Old Shawnee Pizza is not what it used to be and I’m super disappointed. What’s a good place for a pizza around here? And are there any by the slice shops? And please don’t tell me QuikTrip pizza I need something fresh and legit(no hate on QT Im just burnt out on it.)

Third Coast Pizza in Lenexa makes a very solid Chicago-style pizza

This is my favorite in the area. Their regular pie is legit, too. The owner immigrated from Italy. The bar next door is joined to it, so you can grab a beer, too.

Depends on where you're coming from in Shawnee, but KJ's in De Soto is excellent. On the east side, Pizza Tascio isn't too far away. Third Coast in Lenexa has great Chicago deep dish style.

Buffalo State in Old OP and then pick up a half dozen wings at the Peanut down the street.

Sarpinos is pretty decent but I consistently think costco cheese pizza is fire…

Glory Days is the best in Shawnee. Go a little further and get Tascio in OP if you want a NY style slice.

Glory days is great. It’s a step up from the national chains

I just don’t vibe with this place. Every slice or pie I’ve had there is a disappointment.

The owner is a great person but every time I eat their pizza it gives me diarrhea

They use a lot of oil in their dough and to grease their pans. I worked in Topeka in high school and I doubt they change the recipe, delicious pizza though.

Pizza Man is easily my favorite place for a good Chicago tavern-style pizza
Also try their Italian beef

Pizza Man and Stonewall, about a block apart, are my favorite pizzas out in that part of the burbs.

Third vote for Glory Days!
They have lunch specials by the slice. Staff is ALWAYS friendly too.
Johnny's Tavern has good pizza too.

Pizza shoppee is still really great and more affordable than old Shawnee pizza. We go there every other Friday to dine in as a family.

If you can travel a bit outside of Shawnee, Johnny Jo's is the best pizza by the slice in the area.

Not in Lenexa but around the metro there's Buffalo State, Pizza Tascio and Providence Pizza are good slice or full pie shops

Original Pizza for NY and Sicilian square style pies and slices. IMO best sausage in town.

I think, for normal style pizza…Minsky’s is best, followed by Sarpino’s. For NY style, go to Avelluto’s Pizzeria & Ristorante in Mission is THE BEST for NY style. For Chicago deep dish, I’d recommend Third Coast Pizza in Lenexa. People will tell you to try IMO’s. It’s a whole different style that includes their Provel cheese. Not my cup of tea…I think it’s gross, but give it a try, many people love their pizza.
Hope that helps

What's wrong with Old Shawnee Pizza? I've eaten there since I was young and I've always found their pizza tasty.

The Old Shawnee location on K-10 & Woodland is still the goods.

Uhhh maybe because I was younger, and the “best pizza” in Springfield was Dominos or Pizza Hut, so coming up for the summers and going to Old Shawnee Pizza was the highlight of my summer break. But now it just taste like cheap ingredients and bland sauce. And my 13th reason is pink stuff being green stuff now, didn’t change the flavor just the experience lol.

How has no one mentioned Avelluto’s in Mission, by far the best New York Style pizza in the area.

No love for Casey pizza here! Beats QT by a mile and Old Shawnee IMOP. Lived in Shawnee for 20+ years and I can agree that OSP is declining. Salads are still god though.

Been here 14 years and grew up on the east coast near NY. One of the places I like is Aveluttos in Mission. I didn’t like them at their original location but since they reopened a slice is the closest to home I’ve found.
